RE: Breaking
I'm going under the assumption this was a choice and not a situation (maybe I'm wrong). At this point, it is probably the smart move if that is the case. But what a disaster overall. We're going into JMU with 3 games played in 6 weeks after having played the first 14 in a six week period

RE: Breaking
Don't think it was a choice as by playing this weekend JMU has now clinched the #1 seed in the tourney no matter what happens in their game against Drexel.

You might be right. The wording in the CAA updates earlier said the cancellations were due to "positive tests within the program." Now the wording is "due to Covid protocols within the program." The timing of the announcements is also interesting coming just just outside of the fourteen day window.

Same thing just happened with CofC today. That’s why their games against UNCW have been canceled.

RE: Breaking
Doesn't UNCW need an 8th game to qualify for the CAA Tourney? Just wondering.

As an aside, I'd be fine letting them in since this wasn't their cancellation or in their control. I'd say the same if they were 5-1 and not 1-5 also. I'd rather see 10 teams play in this thing if possible

I agree. Plus, you know they've called everyone who owes them a postponed game and it looks like, for whatever reason....no one agreed to play a make up game.

Who thinks that the JMU-Drexel game will take place and who thinks there will be a "Covid protocol problem in the program?"

I believe that if you are short games you receive a loss for any games you are short and that record is used for seeding purposes.

Not sure why you would think this. JMU wants to play a game as if we don't we will have not played for three weeks going into the tournament which is not a good thing. They would much rather get a game in to keep their legs. Our Coach has noted we are not doing a ton of real live practice in order to be safe and keep our players separated as much as possible going into the tourney.

I do think I remember seeing that rule about losses being added now that you mention it. So UNCW will just get hit with an extra loss I guess

On the JMU-Drexel game, I guess I just assumed they would follow suit with other teams but there are certainly good reasons to play as well like you've mentioned

All of the conspiracy theorists should read this article. Not only did we make up games mid week we even travelled to Elon for a game that was originally at home after they caused the original games to be cancelled. Additionally, we tried to reschedule CofC and got no response. Most interestingly it notes that the CAA, in their infinite wisdom, allowed the schools to handle the re-scheduling of games.

I heard that NU offered to come to Harrisonburg for a weekend series and your head coach said no...

So don't throw stones.

RE: Breaking
Here'where I am with this. There have been a gazillion pspstponements or cancellations. Hardly any of them have been made up....for a couple of reasons.

Some reasons were strategic. Some reasons were due to Covid. Either way when the conference gave rescheduling rights to the ADs the AD's did what they think is best for their basketball teams.

I don't get the "conspiracy theorist" thing when everyone is doing the same thing,

Drexel has not played since February 7. Drexel wants to play a game for sure.

Be safe. Looks like you guys are the exception to the rule. Seems like everyone else has adjusted their Covid protocols to read, "away games are not permitted." Gutsy move to take the risk within two weeks of the tourney.

C'mon man. Two very different situations as one was a cancellation of games that were never played an the other was an offer to play our 3rd and 4th games against a team. Our Coach has been clear from the beginning that he did not think playing more than 2 games against the same team made any sense and we would not do it. It also logically would make no sense for us to accept that offer based on the facts. Once again we had every weekend series but 2 cancelled on us and we will still played 10 games so we have not been the problem in rescheduling. We also had games cancelled at the last minute that had been rescheduled for during the week (UNCW) which then affected our opportunity to reschedule other games (UD).
