He'd be a huge upgrade from Heupel

Agree completely. And how ridiculous will it make Tennessee look?? They will have relieved UCF of an under performing Heupel, paid them 6 million dollars to do it, and then allowed them to hire the better coach. The fact that Gus turned UT down makes it even funnier.

Now if UT would only schedule UCF. Or us, for that matter.

Yep the new UTK AD was blinded by his desire to prove Heupel was a good hire at UCF so he compounds that mistake by hiring him at UTK when hiring Gus at UTK would have been a much better hire.

Did he really turn UT down to take UCF?

I would find it hard to believe that UTK called Gus.

That was the rumor. At the time it was said that Malzahn wouldn't entertain the job because of the presence of Steele- former DC who allegedly (I have no idea if true) tried to pull a Fulmer and backstab Gus at Auburn.

Why? 77-38 in the SEC West over the last 8 years and basically the only coach that can beat Saban in the SEC with any regularity...

Tennessee’s superiority complex.

RE: UCF hiring Gus Malzahn?
They've probably got him at a good price. He's still being paid big bucks on an extension signed in 2017, so UCF is likely paying him a pittance/token salary until his AU money dries up. Then if he's worked it right, he will be a hot commodity at a new P5 school due to running his gimmicky offense against AAC defenses.

Get ready for some fast-paced action in the future. Better start training the defense how to strategically fall and look injured to slow them down....

UCF ran the fastest pace offense in the country in 2020. I don't see much difference except changing from a pass heavy offense to a more run-oriented offense.

As an opposing fan, I'm much more afraid of a Gus UCF team than one coached by Heupel, and it's not even close.

Tennessee’s superiority complex.

Superiority complex? 78-82 over the last 12 years and hire Dooley, Jones, Pruitt and Heupel, but Malzahn is below them? You're way off.
