Remaing Games for Contenders
With 3 weeks in the regular season left there is a big discrepancy in the number of games each of the top contenders have left due obviously to COVID postponements. In looking at the standings the top teams have the following number of games left on their schedule – Toledo (6) Akron (7), Kent (7) Ohio (9) and Buffalo (9). Now looking at the remaining schedule for the contenders, these are games still left to play with postponed games at the end
.
Toledo – Miami, @Buffalo, Open, WMU, @CMU, Ball St. – NIU (Postponed)

Akron - NIU, @Ball St, Open, BG, @ Buffalo, Miami, -- Buffalo, @Ohio, (Postponed)

Kent – @WMU, EMU, Open, @Miami, Ohio, @Buffalo, -- @EMU, @Ball St, (Postponed),

Ohio – Postponed, Open, Buffalo, @Kent @BG, -- @Miami, CMU,@NIU, EMU, Akron, @WMU,

Buffalo - @EMU, Toledo, Open, @Ohio, Akron, Kent, -- @NIU, CMU @Akron, @CMU, (Postponed)

With no games currently scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23rd, everyone will be able to make up a game on that night. But that still leaves Akron and Kent with 1 additional game to play, Buffalo with 3 and Ohio with 5. With all that said, it will be interesting to see how the MAC schedules these postponed games and then how they go about seeding for the tournament.

As of now I feel the MAC should just try to get these teams to all play 19 games instead of 20. This would mean that Toledo could keep their Feb 23rd bye while Akron and Kent would each make up a game that date. That would put all 3 of these teams on pace for 19 games. This would also trim down the number of games that Buffalo and Ohio would have to play by 1 as well, which makes it much more manageable for them.

I think that's pretty ambitious for teams to even get to 19... I was going to be happy with 17 or 18.

I believe Jason Arkely said the MAC is trying to get games made up first amongst teams that haven't played each other yet. so that would mean Buffalo would get their NIU game made up and probably one with CMU but not both.

The only games currently on Ohio’s schedule that haven’t been postponed are the UB and Kent Games. The two games for Ohio against BG were both moved up. The game originally scheduled for 3/5 was played on 12/30. The recently postponed one is not currently on either schedule. It would make sense to play it on 3/5, since they aren’t currently scheduled that day. I don’t think anything’s been announced though. All that’s assuming the Ohio’s pause doesn’t drag on longer than expected...

Also, Steinbrecher has said they would give priority to rescheduling canceled games between teams who haven’t played each other yet this year. I’m not sure how many of those situations there are, but I know Ohio hasn’t played EMU this year.

As for seeds, I’d guess it’s based on winning percentage if teams don’t play the same number of games

RE: Remaing Games for Contenders
At lunch, I did a quick pass at seeing which games were still listed as postponed / not rescheduled yet for all the teams.

Postponed Games
Akron (2) - @ Ohio, Buffalo
Ball St. (4) - @ CMU, @ EMU, Kent, WMU
Bowling Green (3) - @ EMU, NIU, Ohio
Buffalo (5) - @ Akron, @ CMU, CMU, @ EMU, @ NIU
Central Michigan (6) - BSU, @ UB, UB, Miami, @ NIU, @ Ohio
Eastern Michigan (8) - BSU, BG, UB, Kent, @ Miami, @ NIU, @ Ohio, WMU
Kent St. (2) - @ BSU, @ EMU
Miami (4) - @ CMU, EMU, Ohio, @ Western
Northern Illinois (7) - BG, UB, CMU, EMU, Ohio, Toledo, @ WMU
Ohio (7) - Akron, @ BG, CMU, EMU, @ Miami, @ NIU, @ WMU
Toledo (1) - @ NIU
Western Michigan (5) - @ BSU, @ EMU, Miami, NIU, Ohio

They're going to have to get creative and start scheduling games on Thursdays for some teams if they want to make them all up.

I also noted instances where teams had their only game postponed (or for Buffalo and CMU both games postponed).

Teams that haven't played once
Bowling Green - Eastern Michigan
Buffalo - CMU (2 games postponed)
Buffalo - Northern Illinois
Central Michigan - Miami
Kent St. - Ball St.
Ohio - Eastern Michigan

Note: I did this all quickly and very easily could have overlooked something.
