It's just economic reality. By all means block all the ads on the NYT, Facebook, and GMail. Those are big fat (corrupt) corporate entities and they deserve it and they can absorb it. But you might reconsider on an independent blog or user based service. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

I do think I make it pretty reasonable to make it an ad-free experience though. Two Big Mac combos and you've paid for Ad Free Premium for a year.

Your add placement here are relatively unobtrusive other than the insurance add that obviously isn’t your fault. Happy to have adds here if it keeps the lights on. The adds delivered here don’t create a negative experience (no adds that trick you into clicking them by getting bigger, pop up frames that move the x etc). Thanks for delivering what you do with a minimal and unobtrusive add load.

FYI for anyone that runs an add blocker, you can whitelist specific domains like this one that you want to let the ads through to support.

I don't run an ad blocker, but my browser blocks everything, and no option for a white list that I can find. Going premium seems like a fair compromise.
