Yes, but they only get used once a decade.

Tires are so much better you don’t really need them outside of mountain grades. FWD with all seasons and traction control in the snow is an evolutionary leap forward compared to trying to drive a rwd on bias ply tires in the 1960s.

I don’t really think we have plows outside of the airport. I’ve never seen public roads plowed in Memphis, just salt / sand trucks.

And, as I recall, that snow was dry and it was windy, ergo we had drifts that were much deeper. As I recall, some were waist-high. I was 17, so that was pretty deep.

RE: The Unofficial 2021 Snowmageddon Thread
When I'm in the US and it snows a bit, I am amazed in a very bad way at how many accidents there are. You guys shouldn't be talking about how tires and cars are better than they were in the 60's. You should be driving like sissies and making sure you don't kill yourselves or others. I see Americans driving in snow and ice much faster than we do in Canada, and we are used to it and drive fast.

Drive slow...

Yes but the big one I remember most was the late March surprise in ‘68. Snowed for a few days iirc.

18". It looked like snowballs were falling from the sky. I can see it like it was yesterday.
