I know that couldn't have been an easy decision to make and I'm proud that our staff put the student-athletes well being at the center of this.

RE: Women's Basketball Opts to End Season
I'm sure this season has been a heavy mental strain on players, with all the precautions they have to take when each game winds up basically being a 50/50 if it gets played. As long as decisions like these come from the student athletes and not the administration, I think it's a fine decision.

Hopefully this was a “we are tired of having everything shut down for two weeks for no reason” and not a “we are all going to die from Covid”. Can’t believe how overhyped this has been the whole time for healthy young athletes. The risk is essentially zero to them. This is the same mentality that wants to keep schools closed until all the kids are vaccinated.

I’m sure they’d reconsider if only they had this info from you. Quick, contact the HC! Maybe there’s time to reconsider after this information breakthrough!

As an aside, many students are studying from home. Given the safety concerns and how things are locked down on campus, I think I'd be inclined to go home if my season ended, especially if I were a senior.

I'm glad you said something. Some comments on here posted by what I'd consider smart people blow my mind.

Sorry to sidetrack this thread any more than it has been, but the 'just the flu" stuff drives me nuts. I know people die from the flu yearly, but in my 47 years of living I have yet to encounter anyone in my circle who has died from the flu. Just this year I can go beyond one hand on neighbors relatives, coworkers relatives, and people within my community that I know of who most certainly died from Covid. My kids bus driver died due to Covid. My brother in law was in the hospital for two weeks being treated with steroids & Remdesivir due to Covid complications. Off the top of my head I can think of three of my coworkers who had to be hospitalized. True, most cases of Covid are asymptomatic or mild. That doesn't minimize the real damage that Covid has caused and is capable of causing throughout our communities. Treating Covid like it's just some inconvenience that we need to push through is a bit insulting to those who have experienced loss or who are concerned for their loved ones future safety.

After the CAA Tournament last year, we had a cheerleader get covid, and she was in the hospital for about 3 months. She survived, so she doesn't count in the fatality stats, but just because the disease doesn't kill you means you'll be totally fine from it.

Let's bury the COVID is terrible vs no it's not talk. It's like politics and will only lead to people crying/pouting/leaving or drawn out arguments. Please.
