So---I guess the real question is "Did YOU read the article---or did you just vomit out the first worthless propaganda talking point you heard on MSNBC?" The reality? This crisis occurred under Obama and (at the time) Vice President Dumb Dumb. They had 8 years to address it and did NOTHING. So, among his FIRST moves as leader of the free world, President Dumb Dumb goes back to doing nothing and letting people die. Sorry---you voted this drooling dumb dunb into office, thus you get to defend President Dumb Dumb when he literally goes out of his way to make sure more people die. Sorry, your weak sauce defense of this abomination of an administration does nothing to make its actions less ghastly.

Trump had 1,460 days to do something about it and six days before he was on his way out he scribbled some EO without any directives or policies ready to put in place.

But yeah, his 11:59 EO was incredible. Going to be HUGE. Great minds took 1,454 days to craft it. He probably saved millions of lives with the last minute EO that he could have issued on day 1 of his administration.

Oh Good Lord...congrats on the technicality. Let me amend that to "Prescription Opium Related Deaths". Btw---That STILL has absolutely no bearing of any decent reason as to WHY President DumbDumb would ditch the policy. Of course we ALL know why.

Skyrocketing Fentanyl overdoses during the trump administration way outpaced the small drop in prescription opioid deaths.

No, no. He was doing an incredible job. Only the top people in the world were working on the finest plans.

In fact, the rule change that was put into place 1,454 days into his presidency, without any plan for implementation, was the finest piece of rulemaking ever made in the history of rulemaking.

But because the rule that was never put in place didn't get put in place (yet somehow was a life saving program that was saving lives) Biden is to blame for the opiod crisis.

Duh.

Yikes.

By that logic, since Fentanyl use and deaths skyrocketed under Trump, it seems he's been pretty soft on China and Mexico.

Agree with [Hey There Goes] Elvis on this, Saluki.

Chinese fentanyl is highly concentrated and primarily enters the country through mail and express packages, it doesn’t come in through Mexico.

There is Mexican and Indian fentanyl coming in as well, but China is the majority and it doesn’t go over the southern border.

Ditch the policy?

THERE WAS NO POLICY!

Trump issued it at 11:59 in his presidency. Without any date certain to start.

lol...so, since you ignored giving me a reason why President DumbDumb made this one of the first moves of his presidency---I can assume you either cant defend it or are waiting for MSNBC to tell all the Bidenbots what to say to defend the undefensible.

It says right in the article that they feel there are legal issues with the way trump did it.

Fake news. That argument is rebutted in literally the next sentences.

We hope this about-face wasn’t political. But if the only issue is procedural, why not let the change stand until Congress passes legislation to regularize it? There is every reason to do so: Nearly 130 Americans die of opioid overdoses on an average day, and a bipartisan bill has already been proposed, with plans for reintroduction.

Drs. Barnett and Weleff wrote in the Wall Street Journal editorial:

Perhaps the Biden administration will eliminate the X-waiver in its own manner. But how can it justify further delay with overdose deaths increasing amid the pandemic? If the administration lacks the courage to act now, we implore Congress to do so. It should use the next Covid-19 [coronavirus disease] relief package as an opportunity to end the X-waiver’s deadly reign.

Thus I continue to ask---why get rid of the policy until you have a better one ready to go? Nobody has an answer other than---"Thats just how President DumbDumb rolls."

Chinese fentanyl is highly concentrated and primarily enters the country through mail and express packages, it doesn’t come in through Mexico.

There is Mexican and Indian fentanyl coming in as well, but China is the majority and it doesn’t go over the southern border.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – From nondescript buildings in the industrial nucleus of Wuhan, across wavy seas to dusty tented super laboratories in the heart of Mexico, and then across the jagged southwest border and dispersing like a wild bomb ripping through every crevice of the United States, the growing presence of Chinese drug lords and cartels below the southern border is one that is killing an unprecedented amount of Americans.

According to multiple Mexico-based security and intelligence professionals, the bulk of the deadly work is carried out by the "Los Zheng" wing, identified as having "the largest presence in Mexico for the trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine."

As per intelligence findings by security firm Fortress Risk Management, obtained exclusively by Fox News, the Zhengs operate through seemingly legitimate shell companies that offer veterinary services, clothing sales, clinical laboratories and maintenance of computer systems in Mexico. They use the ports of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Manzanillo Colima in Mexico and Ensenada Baja, Calif., for the commercialization of their products in the country.

Fentanyl has taken over America’s drug market. Where is it coming from?

Multiple fronts.
