Bilas Top 68 Rankings
Usually can't stand the guy but he's probably right on point with our team. Hard to rank the Tigers and which team shows up.

RE: Bilas Top 68 Rankings
60. Memphis Tigers
The Tigers are talented but tough to figure out, a team that is No. 1 in conference play in 3-point rate (39.6%) and yet somehow dead last in the American from the free throw line (60.1%). Boogie Ellis has made more 3s (25) than he has shots at the line (21 of 34, 62%). Penny Hardaway's group still gets Houston twice and will have a golden opportunity to peak when it matters.

We're 12-6 with losses to Tulsa (twice), SMU, Auburn, VCU, & WKU. And, our marquee win of the season is SMU, I suppose?

You think we should be ranked significantly higher than that, right now?

funny Bilas

7. Houston Cougars
First ... Our Lady of the Lake? Really? Second ... Our Lady of the Lake? Really? And third ... Our Lady of the Lake? REALLY? (Houston pummeled the Saints 112-46 on Saturday). Houston is a tough team, on the glass and on the defensive end. The only question is whether Houston can score efficiently throughout the NCAA Tournament Bubble Event. The Cougars can pitch shutouts on the defensive end and manufacture points off second chances, but they have to make shots to reach the ultimate quartet. The loss to East Carolina was tough to fathom -- although Jayden Gardner is a damn good player -- as the Pirates had lost five straight heading into the Houston game.

Since his ranking means diddly squat, sure. I’m biased.

I don't get the hate for the Lady of the Lake game. They were filling in for a game that got canceled, and Houston through a small school a bone. Would it have been better to just sit at home? Also, I hate Bilas lol, so that might color my opinion a bit.

Didn't we do the exact same thing with LeMoyne-Owen under Pastner?

No reason to sh*t on giving really little guys a game under unique circumstances.

I remember UAB playing division 3 Millsaps College. It was the first time I ever heard the phrase, “Cupcake City, Baby!”
It’s not like every school doesn’t do it.

RE: Bilas Top 68 Rankings
Bilas is just like every other talking head over the past 3 years! They all rank the Tigers too high because of high school player rankings and the fact that Penny Hardaway is the coach. Come on they all talk about the eye test, haven't any of these guys watched the Tigers play. Right now they have no business playing any significant post season games. They might get an invitation to an exhibition tournament but at this point the only thing they have a right to play for is conference championship.

60 is not a good ranking...And it is not a ranking that can get you in the tourney.

If we are good enough...We still have to to prove it.

The jury is still out on this team. Take care of business then win at Houston and the narrative changes. Certainly can't lose to Houston twice, especially in a decisive way, but get the win Sunday with another at FEF we'll be in business.

ALWAYS assume you’ve got more work to do to get in. Especially if you’re not in the Power 5.

The difference is Gonzaga had an OPEN date that weekend and so did Houston. Houston could have chosen to see how they'd measure up to the Zags, but chose to instead pick up Land O' Lakes on five days notice.

#60 is generous for us. We’ve done nothing to justify it accept beat some teams we should have, lose to teams we shouldn’t have, and beat no one that we weren’t supposed to.

Div 2 & 3 games are not factored into the NET rankings so why not use them to replace cancelled games?
