I am not sold on Tarleton State -

They clumsily gave away the McNeese game (and we saw what happened to McNeese this past week). They lost to Dixie State and then put up a pretty good margin of victory over New Mexico State.

If Tarleton State is just so-so and still had no problems dusting aside NMSU, I am not sure the Aggies would've stood a chance even last fall or this fall against the Texans. Now, certainly you have some of the outside factors (i.e. COVID) playing into things particularly for the NMSU sports - but that aside, the Aggies are a FBS program while Tarleton State is barely even a Div I program.

Just ignore him. Dude doesn't have a clue. He definitely doesn't speak for the majority of Aggie fans. We are all very concerned about what we saw against Tarleton and our prospects for the Fall.

Tarleton wouldn't be able to beat NMSU in the fall. Just be happy you got NMSU in the spring when we just had about 20 players mostly starters who decided to transfer out or sit out the year. But at the end of the day, NMSU will have 85 scholarship players and a much bigger budget in the fall.

RE: FCS & NMSU 2021 Spring Season
Sam Houston State is putting together a helluva season this spring... they entered last week at No. 7 and with some top 5 teams falling, there's a chance later today that they will be in the top 5. Lamar has 50+ freshmen and it's not a surprise they are struggling. This is a bonus campaign for their freshmen to get some snaps in!

BEAUMONT – The No. 7 Sam Houston Bearkats flexed their muscles early and often, blasting Lamar, 62-7, on Saturday night at Provost-Umphrey Stadium.

Eric Schmid accounted for six touchdowns and Jequez Ezzard had 215 all-purpose yards and three scores on just six touches as the Kats (3-0, 3-0 SLC) built up a 38-0 halftime lead and finished off the youthful Cardinals (1-3, 1-3 SLC) in convincing fashion, snapping a modest two-game losing streak to LU in the all-time series.

The Kats scored on its first drive of the game, getting a 16-yard rush from Schmid, but went each of the next three drives without points. That all changed when Schmid found Ezzard for the first time, a 35-yard score to make it 14-0. Then, following a quick stop by the Bearkat defense, Ezzard struck again with an 80-yard punt return that made it 21-0 and from there the rout was on.

RE: FCS & NMSU 2021 Spring Season
Sam Houston State holding steady at No. 5 and Tarleton State following their loss drops from the ORV category. The Bearkats host McNeese this week before facing Incarnate Word in the season finale. Based on the FCS committee rankings, good chances if SHSU holds on for two more wins - they'll be a top four seed and get no less than home games in the playoffs (Round of 16, Quarterfinals). SHSU is undefeated at home all-time in the playoffs...

What do NMSU fans think of the home schedule?

You do get UTEP at home which is always nice, but do the fans get excited for Hawaii and Utah State? Presume there's little excitement for UMass and South Carolina State, right?

I've been a proponent of NMSU staying FBS to maintain the UTEP/UNM rivalries, plus they seem to have no problems getting MWC games (Hawaii, Utah State amongst the home games)... but is this a good schedule for Aggies comparably to others?

This is a great schedule. We alternate home and away with NuM and the minors every year. So we always get one of them at home. We also like to see MWC teams on the schedule and we have 7 next year. We might as well be in the MWC.

It's also nice to only have 2 body bags games. Some years we have 3. Three is not conducive for getting to a bowl game.

Most fans are predicting 2-3 wins with that schedule. SJSU looked good when it was scheduled a few years ago. We get them the year after they win the MWC crown. SMH...

RE: FCS & NMSU 2021 Spring Season
Final regular season rankings have Sam Houston State at No. 4 with a trio of first-place votes

Of the schools competing in the AQ7 next year, Jacksonville State is at No. 8 and would have to presume that Central Arkansas had they opted into the spring, would have been a top 15 school. The Bears posted a pair of wins over MVFC champion Missouri State, who is in the playoffs.

No surprise here, KC Keeler is a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award. If I had a guess, the VMI coach is the most deserving considering their struggles to get a winning record and their first-ever postseason bid.

If NMSU does not beat South Carolina State, the team is in more trouble than we all think.
