2020 was a great season for UConn

What conference were y’all in last time you won the NC?
What conference between yours and ours had a Final Four team this year?

I have zero problems with Jed personally and actually like him (as much as any of us can "like" a fellow poster we've never met).

However (and Jed if you're reading this please note I post with no malice), the massive amounts of copy and color truly can clutter the board. It's overwhelming at times.

So, Jed, as Granny would say "Let's get them critters under control" (the younger folks on the board might be baffled by that one).

Bill, you're an incredibly nice poster. I'm not sure why anyone would legitimately attack you, lol. Most of the shots I've seen taken at you have been tongue in cheek because you support a lot of teams, and some people think it makes you less of a "real fan." If he attacked you, he would really have issues 04-cheers

I think what really rubs me the wrong way (and probably a lot of others on this board) is his combination of a holier than thou attitude and the hypocrisy of how he treats others but then expects to be treated in return. He utilizes this pseudo intellectual style of posting to make himself feel smarter than those he's talking to. He'll take veiled shots at people while referencing his doctoral studies and imply that people who don't have the time to read his ridiculously long posts simply can't handle intellectual discussion... Yet 99.9% of the time he could have made the exact same point he was making in 1/10th the words at most (which I think most people would agree is a true demonstration of intellectual aptitude), and they're almost always regurgitated points he has made ad nauseam on this board. Yet if you point out a flaw in one of his points or take a similar veiled shot, he acts as if you have no class and blocks you. Most of his points aren't even academic in nature, but are instead cherry picked stats or stats framed in a way to support his narrative. Contrast this to someone like slhnavy, who makes long posts from time to time but only when he's utilizing legitimate data to support his point, and is liked by most if not all on this board. Is it that people on this board can't handle intellectual discussion? Or that Jed himself is incapable of having intellectual discussion with those he disagrees with? To any impartial observer, I think that answer is obvious.

As others have pointed out, yes you can block him, but you'll still see his posts as others reply to them. He makes threads unreadable significantly more often than contributing anything of actual value to the discussions he takes part in. I know you've said he's long in the tooth, and I get the same feeling... But his attitude is often incredibly childish.
Couldn’t have explained it any better. 04-cheers Another issue is that he refuses to acknowledge that he is ever wrong, and if you take a shot at him or simply disagree with him, he just puts you on his “ignore list” and pretends like he’s “taking the high road” in doing so.

The post that got me put on ignore was one where you disagreed with him and I made some one sentence response that ended in "..." Lol. Just spent time trying to find it but couldn't

We'll put that one on Gillespie's knee. They had Baylor dead to rights and blew it in the 2nd half. Point taken though lol

This poster can be seen in every thread involving AAC expansion and many political threads. He/she is extremely liberal. Wont say poster’s name....the spam this poster puts out should make it obvious. The board has become almost unreadable because of him/her.

So his posts would be fine if he was extremely conservative? His political viewpoints seem utterly irrelevant to complaints about posting style.

No his SPAM posts WOULD NOT BE FINE if he was extremely conservative. I should have simply put some of his spam on the AAC board is political partisan stuff not meant for a sports board. I suppose I’ll ask you if the reason you put up with his spam is because you agree with him politically?

Who said I "put up with his spam"? I generally read right past it because the formatting and colors don't work for me. I frankly didn't know what his political leanings are, and I consider those to be irrelevant unless they become a regular occurrence in posts. And since I rarely read those posts, it doesn't really matter a hill of beans to me.

I just thought that adding your quip about his liberalism showed a point of bias in how you assess his posts otherwise and deserved to be called out. If your problem is with long, oddly formatted and colored posts that constantly rehash the same topics, then say so. No reason to add "he/she is extremely liberal." You could have made what I assume is your actual point by simply noting that the poster also regularly brings off-topic political conversation into threads.

I watched him launch into a tirade about respecting LGBT people like a week ago for a tongue in cheek joke about gays not liking football. Like it was obviously a joke, and did not warrant some lecture/talking down to yet he felt it was justified. Growing up 10-15 minutes outside of Yale, I often associate this attitude with staunch liberals who feel the need to prop themselves up at the expense of others. In this social media era, we've all come across people like this (and yes, I'm aware there are conservatives that are the exact same way.) When I read his post, I had a similar "jfc, what an obnoxious liberal" moment myself, lol. Obviously this shows my own bias, but it's not like I hate all liberals or anything as I have a lot of friends who are staunch democrats. Perhaps he could've worded his point better but I don't think he was taking a shot at all liberals, as it came across. Think he was just venting his frustration with the holier than thou attitude this poster likes to cop with people

That was me. I'm still pissed about it. Like anyone gives a flip about whether or not LGBT-XYZ-Apostrophe-S's like football. This is why comedians won't go anywhere near a college campus.

I got neg rep'd for it too. It's virtue signaling to sell him/her self as a compassionate caring person at someone else's expense. In other words, a hypocrite.

He got backed into a corner from Navy who was tearing him a new *******, and he lashed out at the first person he could get his hands on. Just happened to be me.

Thank you. I didn’t word my point as well as you worded it for me. That’s what I meant. He/she is very sensitive and goes off on political tirades at times over nothing.

Kind words, Nameless. I can't recall one poster who has been dismissive or even malicious in addressing my support of multiple teams. I've gotten some "playful ribbing," which I am fully fine with!

As to Jed, I will say (and to be critical of him) he has been unfairly rough on UConn. He has hammered the Husky program for cheating while not also noting that Memphis (and other AAC programs) have had scandals too. I don't like that lack of consistency — and I'm a Memphis fan.

Honestly, I don't mind the UConn stuff. He can talk as much shite as he wants. Hell, at least half this board has at one point or another lol. Just don't like the condescending attitude, or demeaning way in which he talks to people but then expects to be treated with respect

And, to be fair, Jed is passionate and knowledgeable about college sports (he also seems to be strongly into music, which I respect). I also believe that he genuinely cares about the AAC.

In contrast, Jed has been very polite with me in multiple posts, so it's tough for me to be too hard on him. Plus, any man who enjoys the legendary TV show The Beverly Hillbillies is OK in my book.

On a serious note (and, Jed, if you are reading), I would like to see Jed reel it in a good bit.

Honestly, I don't mind the UConn stuff. He can talk as much shite as he wants. Hell, at least half this board has at one point or another lol. Just don't like the condescending attitude, or demeaning way in which he talks to people but then expects to be treated with respect

Fair enough. Most posters would agree with you. But the inconsistency from Jed bothers me more than anything else. And, as noted, I'm fine with Jed overall.
Why? I respect you but you do realize she/he is an App St fan right????

Writing books with different colors and fonts, talking about the same exact thing every single post, and when I wasn’t I’d take offense to anything that offended my politics and so I’d start making political posts?
NO.
I used to like you Pony lol....

Well, now the question of "why is spam allowed on this board" is not on the board for which the question was intended.... Great move... I guess...

They allow Clampett’s spam on the AAC board—even when it’s political—but immediately take this off the board. This isn’t free speech. I can guess which mod did it too.
