Rice finally unleashes the beast
First indoor track performance of the year for an Owl and it's a doozy.

Grace Forbes just set a meet record (and Rice school record) in winning the Charlie Thomas Invitational at College Station with a time of 15:50.38 in the 5000 meters. I think that's the 5th fastest time in the country so far this indoor season (behind two Arkansas runners and two NC State runners).

It might have been a new CUSA record too except perhaps they only count records from the conference meet? Not sure about that.

I don't understand why the track teams really aren't competing until the conference indoor meet. Maybe they're going to have a few of the elite athletes (like Forbes, but she's in a class of her own) competing in a meet here or there, but you'd think the whole team would need some competition prior to the conference meet.
