Why do we pass up a wide open 3 --then move one foot forward and miss a 2

Gotta get some offensive boards and win the turnover battle to get 10-15 more shots.

Our Lady of the Lake????
Houston had other options, most notably Gonzaga. After losing to East Carolina, maybe it's better to work on some things and get the guys at the end of the bench some playing time. The OLLU game doesn't count in the NET calculations.

Disagree---Alabama shoots the ball within the 1ST 14 seconds on the shot clock.
We hold/pass the ball WAAAY 2 long
SHOOT the FIRST open shot----also 3 point shots tend to bound long when missed ---resulting in a better chance for offensive rebounds ------PLUS you can make a lesser % of threes and still come out better than twos----in other words ---you don't have to make a great 3 % to equal shooting 2's-----and shooting QUICKLY QUICKLY QUICKLY--would lead to less turnovers

I’m not saying I don’t want them to shoot quick. I’m saying that they could shoot in 5 seconds every single time and it would have nothing to do with us getting more shots than the other team.

One of the problems our team has with pace is their tendency to force something that really isn't there, to turn over & not set adequately before taking that quick shot some are advocating. I'm all for quick ball movement that leads to a good shot but we TO way too much, force passes that aren't there & sometimes take quick bad shots (which could be the wrong guy thinking he's a perimeter shooter or trying to get Cisse the ball with him on the move with defenders between him & the goal). IMO we are approaching a pretty good pace especially against man-D but need more ball movement & player movement against zones, rather than quicker shots.

I actually agree with this. But most of our offense comes off of defense and really always has going back years and years. Calipari once said he rarely called plays if we were playing good defense.

Until DJ realizes what he is he won’t ever improve. And what he is not is a guard. Case closed.

I get that. There were lots of opportunities early in the clock where a wide open look - from 2 or 3 - was passed up on and we had to settle for a bad look. I understand the need to run the offense, and I'm not a proponent of stopping and jacking at all. I just think we passed on too many good looks, especially in the first half.
