Who’s Returning in 2021-22 and Who’s Not?
With the extra year of eligibility, how are your teams shaping up?
Tulsa returns almost everyone barring our starting QB (Zach Smith) and one of our longtime rotation RB’s (Corey Taylor II). We will also lose possibly our most important player in national defensive player of the year Zaven Collins to the NFL Draft.
On the other hand, literally every other senior is returning. This includes a 7(!!!!!!) year safety in Cristian Williams who is now pursuing a second degree.
We get back our leading WR’s, our star RB who didn’t play a down (Shamari Brooks) will be back off a knee injury. Our OL will be completely intact as will 10/11 starters on an ultra talented defense.
As of now, we have Davis Brin who led a miracle comeback against Tulane, penciled in as starting QB. He will be our biggest question mark going into next year.
Tulsa should certainly be a highly picked team in next year’s preseason rankings.

Cincinnati defines most of last year’s team. We lose two tackles and RB on offense, but Jerome Ford will be able to fill the RB role. Defense retains mostly intact. We will replace our Aussie punter with a new Ausie punter.

Memphis' entire team will return, less any currently unforeseen transfers out, which I assume will happen, at least one or two.
If nobody leaves (doubtful), Jayden Hardaway will have to move to walk-on status, which will hurt our APR.

Did your star CB declare or did he stay? (Not sure his class, so no idea if he’s eligible)

LOL. This is basketball season.
Oh well. We lost 11 transfers and a few seniors, mostly on defense, but mainly Brady White at QB. Fortunately, we have a stud transfer in AZ's starting QB, Gunnell, plus a transfer QB from LSU and a 3-star HS QB from Texas.
Also, transfers from Mich State who will fill in on the D and O lines.
We'll be good on offense, as usual, and hopefully better on D. Looks like we kept our DC, which is good, since we improved a lot as the season went on.

All the corners are back. Gardner was a true sophomore so he had to stay. Bryant staying was an awesome surprise. Bush is competely overqualified to be the nickel corner. It's an abundance of riches at cornerback for uc.
Lost both safeties but the reserves are talented and hicks in particular has experience because of Wiggins injuries

And Silverfield has limited returns so he must have some confidence in those coming back & coming in.

Hicks has played a lot the past two years due to Wiggins’ injury. How many people can say their reserve player was selected all-conference at their position?

All the guys playing in the game today are returning for UH. Sasser should be as well and possibly either Gorham or Grimes. We get Fabian White back too.

I know but I don't want to talk about our football team. Just thought maybe I could steer the conversation lol

All of Navy's seniors from the 2020 football team will go to the Navy or Marine Corps.
(OL Nestrowitz and CB Kinley have done Hula Bowl and other NFL showcases - policy hasn't changed YET so they could get the Malcolm Perry path)
A handful of underclassmen have already entered the transfer portal, WRs and secondary, mostly.

Houston is returning Mulbah Car, Chandler Smith, Cole McGowan, Dennis Bardwell, David Anenih, Olivier Charles-Pierre, Deontay Anderson, JoVanni Stewart, Damarion Williams, and Dalton Witherspoon.
So, bringing back our potential starting RB. A reserve RB, reserve WR, starting OL, starting DE, starting LB, starting nickel, starting CB, and our K. Very big news for the Houston program hoping to turn a corner this season.

Silverfield talked a lot about roster management during his signing day video. decisions have to be made regarding returning seniors if your program is better with them in place for a single season or if you have recruited well enough behind them to use that scholarship in a different position. interesting segment at the 14:10 mark https://youtu.be/QwMPUERHJEs

RE: Who’s Returning in 2021-22 and Who’s Not?
SMU's losses are few in numbers but significant in contributions. The good news is that the staff has brought in replacements that they feel can do as well or better than the losses. Listed below are our losses with the expected replacements:
- All AAC QB Shane Buechele, but replace him with 4* transfer Tanner Mordecai (OU) and 4* recruit Preston Stone.
- Preseason AA TE Kyle Granson, but replace him with 3 TE transfers Grant Calcaterra (OU), Nolan Matthews (ASU), and Simon Gonzalez (TTU)
- AAC STPOY Chris Naggar, but replace him with All-Pac 12 K Blake Mazza (WSU)
- All AAC DB Brandon Stephens and reserve DB Justin Guy-Robinson. We have some incoming S's and are looking at transfer DB's but nothing so far.
Outside of that we also return our AA WR Reggie Roberson, a huge keep for us, so hopefully he's healthy this year. He was a massive difference maker on O last year.
Excited for 2021.
