RE: Mark Byington vs Tayako Siddle
Not much to choose from late when he was hired. He knows what he has to get now and hopefully will add a few bigs now to complete the roster.
Heck, if Marty would have stayed we would have been far better off. I liked him.

Byington was hired AFTER Siddle and found a big thats made an impact as a freshman . That’s an excuse a lot give here, not buying it.

Byington was bead coach at mid major school and may have been all ready recruiting him while our coach would not have been recruiting for players like this at nc state.

The guy he decided to take a shot on was one he had recruited at state. The guy Byington got was a 3 star so he definitely would have been on a bottom of the ACC team like states radar

Why is this still a discussion. Who cares? Siddle is our coach. If you don't like him TFB, he's not leaving this year. Give it a rest already.

You are about as tired of hearing me as I am of Reading your excuses. Just say he messed up recruiting and I’ll drop it.
Guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter anyways, this season has become a joke.

The most we've had is about 50 and the band/cheerleaders/etc have not been at the games to this point in the season.

It's funny to me that JMU (250 per game) and UNCW (20) are # 2 and 3 in the league in attendance, respectively.

Charleston (1,439 per game), of course, is # 1.

Its about time Drexel is competitive in attendance...

Yep - we have one regular season game versus Drexel left on our schedule.

Not sure about you guys, but the only two weekend series we played that were part of our original schedule were NU and HU. All the rest were rescheduled or cancelled.

Sadly our series with you guys was cancelled.

Are you really trying to take Siddle to task over Justin Amadi? I get that it is boring with no basketball, but some of these takes are absurd.

I don't think our second covid stop hit when i made that comment. And no, 82 was making excuses and others have too, "siddle started late" " who was he supposed to get" just to name a few of the comments. Byington is proof having gotten hired after Siddle that a big man could have been had, even that late in the recruiting cycle. Nothing absurd about that take whatsoever. We obviously can't compare the two if we wanted too at this point given half our season has been cancelled. But damn if that hire isn't looking pretty great. Jury is still out on ours.

The absurdity is in the fact that there weren't any connections between our staff and Amadi. He's a nice player that was third best player on his HS team and he didn't have many offers, certainly nothing coming close to an ACC offer. He may be great, but JMU having a player doesn't prove your point that Siddle has failed.

Byington is a decent coach. He was also 15-19 his first year at Georgia Southern. I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm really only asking for patience. Siddle's coaching job this season isn't a pass/fail grade. Will he improve the roster construction over the next 2 seasons and will he adapt? Those are fair questions, but if the jury is still out, taking Siddle to task in year 1, especially in a truncated first year, isn't reasonable.

I'm not talking about that particular player, just stating that guys were there to be gotten. He chose to ignore size and it definitely was biting us in the a$$ before stuff got stopped, that's really not debatable. It's definitely not reasonable now to pass judgement based on this year, we have nothing really to base it on. I've conceded that. But, my concerns that I had prior are still there. I hope they get addressed this offseason. And unlike his former boss, I hope he's willing to adjust accordingly. His stubbornness in Raleigh has State fans calling for his head already. I had a former co worker whos a huge state guy call me the other day and say that every single he's good but..... that you gave me is completely spot on. KK better get his $hit together in Raleigh or he might be gone in a few years too.

I'm not debating the deficiency, rather the expectation that all holes be addressed IMMEDIATELY. I don't think he ignored it; he took a big swing and missed and that hurt us this year.

I think Keatts would've adjusted here. Both Keatts and Siddle are smart guys. Keatts has been set back by injury this year and their season was effectively over with Daniels got hurt. They didn't look like a tournament team prior to that though, so I think next year is important for Keatts. I don't have any idea what it would take to get fired, but he has work to do.

RE: Mark Byington vs Tayako Siddle
Year one and during Covid era. Certainly should have a ton of patience.

For the record, Marks recruiting was good, but his coaching has been great. Early on we lost at home to Morgan St & Norfolk state - perhaps some of the ugliest losses by a CAA team. His team has improved a ton over the last two months

Seems like we are 9-10 deep with different players stepping up each game. He seems to get the most out of his players. Think he's a very good coach. Hopefully he's a very good recruiter.
