I’d be pretty shocked if that Illinois - Nebraska game gets played in Ireland as planned.

I love having UMd on Thanksgiving weekend for rivals week. That is just what each of us need. I've been saying since we both came into the conference, that the two of us would become each others main rival.

What is the rationale for having an Illinois - Nebraska game in Ireland anyway?

Was to be the second of five seasons of games in Dublin. 2020 was to be Notre Dame/Navy.

Every Maryland fan just groaned. Rutgers as a main rival - might be ok if your Seton Hall!

Yes, Maryland's football rivals (in its eyes, not necessarily the other team's eyes) are Clemson, West Virginia, Virginia, and Penn State. The latter even though Maryland is like 2 - 40 against Penn State. But still.

Don’t forget the Crab Bowl Classic!

I also seem to remember NC State vs. Maryland being considered a rivalry.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there some sort of Maryland-Rutgers-Penn State-Michigan State rotation?

RE: B1G Fall 2021 Football Schedule
I see that they put the Iowa-Nebraska game back on Black Friday on Thanksgiving weekend and moved Iowa-Wisconsin game to the middle of the season.

The original 2021 schedule it was supposed to be Neb-Minn and Iowa-Wisconsin on Thanksgiving weekend.

As awful as everything was in 2020, I kind of liked how Iowa played Nebraska on Black Friday AND played Wisconsin in its last game 2 weeks later. It was kind of the best of both worlds for Iowa.

I wonder if they could change it in the future so that the Big Ten CCG is pushed out at least 1 week permanently. I guess it helped that the weather was not awful in Dec 2020 which is not always certain. And there were no fans in the stands either that could get cold. So not sure if it would work every year.

But I could see some benefit to pushing out the the end of the regular season to the week after Thanksgiving. This way, students would be back on campus. Then have the CCG the following week.

Interesting to see Indiana with a non-conference slate of Cincy (which I knew), Western Kentucky and Idaho.

I had discussed moving rivalry week away from Thanksgiving weekend permanently.

There was supposed to be. This year looks like the BIG didn't follow through with the rotation. The RU/Md game was moved back to the last week and MSU/FPSU is back on as their last game.

So I don't disagree with you about the fans moaning - especially the older fans. If you ask RU fans, most would list Syracuse, BC, Pitt, WV and FPSU as our rivals. Truth is we both burned our bridges with our old conference mates. You know what I see a whole lot of NOT on Maryland's football schedule the last five years? The Terrapins top listed rivals. RU looks the same, not much play against those old BE schools. We are in the BIG Ten now, no looking back. FPSU will never see either of us as a rival. To State Penn, we are opponents. Somebody to beat and forget for the year. The RU/Md game has been surprisingly close and entertaining. It has really good potential to be the big game for both of us.

Week 0 game in Chambana would be great. There’s rarely Week 0 games in the Midwest. They’re typically out west.

Early last year, we identified the decision time for Dublin as 1 June.
Announcement came out 2 June cancelling Dublin, moving from week 0 to week 1, and tentatively planning for NMCMS. ND- ACC later developments ended the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football.

Anyway, almost four whole months to go before it's time to make that call.
