RE: Aresco to PAC-12??
There are some on this board that would be happy if he left. Quo for instance is not a fan. I think it would be a major loss for the AAC. If we had to replace him, the only guy I can think of that would be as good as Aresco at promoting the conference is Tim Brando. I think he knows the game, the TV side, and major movers and shakers. He's run a buisness---so he has some management experience---Im just not sure he'd want to do it. lol...the AAC commissioner job is probably a pay cut for Brando.

No question about it. It would be a huge loss. Tim Brando would be an awesome candidate if we were put in that position. Aside from his wealth of experience, he is always singing praises in support of the American. Hope it doesn’t come to that though. I like Aresco.

Hope you're right, a strong Cincy is good for the conference, Brannens first year was with Cronin recruits.

Better to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament than not making the tournament at all... JMO

The issue wasn't "losing Cronin." The issue was replacing him with an inept bumbler.

If the AAC "loses" Aresco, the real issue will be do they hire an inept bumbler...oh say Britton Banowski...to replace him with. Or maybe the commish of the Horizon League would be a more apt example.

On second thought, forget that I even mentioned BB's name...knowing the hard-on some of the AAC members have for their previous conference, I don't want to give anyone ideas.

I'm kind of with Quo, as I'm not a huge Mike Aresco fan. But, he does bring some quality elements to the table and I doubt the AAC could do any better. I also respectfully acknowledge that many AAC fans who post on this board give MA props.

I've been reading this board since about 2012 and your use of "inept bumbler" for BB is one of the most amusing offerings I've read to date. Well done.

Aresco was widely praised for the way that he kept the FBS side of the Big East conference alive, despite losing half its teams between 2012 & 2014 (Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, & Rutgers).

He also received a great deal of credit and praise for the additions of Navy and Wichita State, which strengthened the conference in FB & BB.

When the time came to sign an extended broadcasting deal, Aresco did about as anyone could have expected by securing a $1 billion package, which more than doubled the prior revenue stream.

Some may blame Aresco for UConn's departure, and some have been frustrated by the way things have gone since UConn left, but no one knows whether it's Aresco or the AAC Presidents who actually bear the responsibility for the way things have gone since the UConn departure was announced. Recent evidence suggest that it may well have been the AAC Presidents who dropped the ball.

For those who've blamed Aresco for being overly passive and taking his foot off the P6 gas pedal, his interviews in the past 2-3 months and the details that have emerged about negotiations with Boise State have clarified that he is just as focused on improving the conference and striving for P6 status as ever. His most recent remarks have been highly positive and very encouraging.

It would be next to impossible to find a better advocate for the conference than Mike Aresco. There are very few people who have the same skill set, the same contacts, etc.

Those who don't care for Aresco obviously weren't paying attention to Tranghese and Marinatto.

The PAC needs someone with experience promoting a conference as a power conference.

the midget was recruiting to about the D2 level his last year or two. he was looking to get out, and leave a relatively empty cupboard when he did so. so, don't think that little mickey left a lot to work with, beyond last year.

Don’t think Aresco will be chosen, here is a really good article. Sounds like they want a current media executive this go around
