Andy Kennedy coaching grade
My basketball IQ is fairly low. I would like the opinion of those with a bit more bball knowledge on his job so far.

RE: Andy Kennedy coaching grade
Giving the circumstances Kennedy is coaching under I would give him an A. Ehsan would probably be 9-7 with this schedule so give Kennedy credit for winning the games most of us believe UAB should be winning.

RE: Andy Kennedy coaching grade
B+
Didn’t have a lot of time to recruit. Had to do so from his office, as did everybody else. He had decent games scheduled. Majority of those decent games were bailed on by the opponents. We should be undefeated with this schedule. 2 losses came when our best or 2nd best player didn’t finish the game or play at all. Undefeated when Quan plays. We’ve kept covid under control outside a 2 week span, in which cost us our most important game.
That’s my grade as of now. The toughest half of the conference schedule is upon us.

Hard to knock him for anything at this point. He quickly put together a solid team that hasn't underperformed, even if the schedule is soft. I think once he's able to bring in some shooters things will really get exciting.

I would say A- to an A. Our schedule is beyond weak, but we’ve played well for the most part with an almost completely brand new team with a drastically altered offseason schedule and preparation. We haven’t lost a lot of games we shouldn’t have. We play a much more interesting style of play. He cobbled together a good team out of transfers, new guys, and returning players. I’m solidly on board. If he gets us to the tournament in year one, A++
The vibe around the team is night and day from ehsan and most of haase.. sad there were so many desperate ehsan truthers who hung on til the bitter end and called the rest of us horrible fans.. maybe those folks see the light now

Yeah, we'd be hovering around .500 with Ehsan, even with a weak schedule. No doubt AK is a massive improvement.

Agree. I think the players are responding to him and the staff.

RE: Andy Kennedy coaching grade
A-
He took over a team in the weirdest of circumstances, ran off the players he knew he didn’t want/didn’t fit, put together a decent schedule, and had players lined up that were ready to contribute immediately. The team plays hard, and plays good defense, something we haven’t seen in years. We are still lacking shooters, but that isn’t all on Kennedy in my opinion. I believe this team can win the conference tournament, and that is really all we could ask for in year 1.

Weird times so hard to say a grade but think he's well above what Ehsan might've been able to do if he was still around. He gets a wash this yr as we don't even know if we'll have a conference tourney or just league champ goes if at all.

RE: Andy Kennedy coaching grade
Like he said, even he doesn't feel like he's coaching UAB right now with all the restrictions on campus movement and attendance. I don't think it's even fair to assign a grade this season. Hell, the pre-conference schedule was practically dropped on his head when he came in the door.

He and the team get a solid A. If they go to NCAA tourney they all should earn multiple credits toward next degrees for a class titled “Mitigating Health, Social, Financial, Athletic, Training and Educational Barriers during a Worldwide Pandemic”. What they all have been asked to do during these times and what they all have accomplished is exemplary. Football and other athletes too.

1. Covid 19.
2. A new team cobbled together on Zoom which exerts great effort on the court.
I think that there is no question that AK warrants an “A” so far this season.
