You do realize those two articles are almost THREE YEARS OLD, right?
And what do they have to do with the number of hate groups currently (2021) in Michigan?
I’m guessing if we were high on the list 3 yrs ago, some of those groups plotting to kidnap & assassinate our Governor didn’t move us down the list much.

Article is false. Michigan is not even in the top 10. Hate groups have actually gone down. 2010 there were 1,002 nationwide. In 2020 there were 838. Southern Poverty Law Center has been tracking it for many years and has some cool heat maps . Peace

Guilty. I have a lot of hate for those who stormed the Capitol and took part in an insurrection. I also have a lot of hate for those in politics who took part in the Big Lie and incited the insurrection. Because, I’m an American.

What do you think was the SOURCE for the article (SPLC)? Did you even read it?
Article was not false. Michigan is in top ten for total number of hate groups, just not number per capita.

I grew up in a small town here in Michigan. It was slightly more affluent than most rural towns due to its proximity to the Detroit area. Most people commuted to Detroit for work. But the culture there is still very much that of a small farm town.
I remember in high school, on more than one occasion, having conversations with a few people who openly admitted to knowing individuals (family members and whatnot) that were associated with the KKK. They would argue that these were "good people" and that you couldn't judge them based on some wacky things they might believe. I would try to reason with these people, and say that their character CAN be judged for simply holding such views and being involved with such a group, but it was like having a conversation with a brick wall.
It was a bit of a shock to the system for me. I don't think I led a sheltered life to that point, but our town was just a sleepy little slice of main street Americana. The people are nice, it was a good place to live and grow up, and I enjoyed my time there for the most part. But those conversations shook me to my core and really started to open up my eyes to how things are in this country and in the world. And I'm still a relatively young person. This isn't something that happened 60 years ago. These people are still out there in droves.
It's a shame that such a wonderful state with so many wonderful people can be tainted by the truly awful people of the world. I suppose the same can be said for anywhere else, as we certainly don't have a monopoly on bigoted ********. It just hurts the heart, you know?
