Both tournaments are ESPN run, right? ESPN probably just shifted them and found someone else for the other tournament. Much better tournament, kudos NMSU!

All this speculation about why NMSU switched tourneys. It turns out the poster on Aggie Alert, who also happens to be a mod, was pretty spot on in his theory (NMSU had a hectic schedule around the time of the Diamond Classic). Mario gives the straight scoop in his Ask the Ad segment this week:

*** Speculation Alert ***
Possible NMSU home game against FAU. FAU is playing UNM on 10 Nov. It would make sense to have two games on the trip.

Out of curiosity- do teams regularly two step to UNM and NMSU on same trip? Would think they would offer a better guarantee than NMSU and the Aggies May be more inclined for a home and home with a school like FAU

NMSU and UTEP used to do do it quite a bit. But the Aggies and Lobos have done it in the past.

The D1 Docket's Google spreadsheet is showing games against LeTourneau (Nov. 10) and Schreiner (Dec. 2) in addition to the Nebraska (Nov. 12) game for Sam Houston.

Also shows Idaho State @ Seattle, which I have also added. Presuming Idaho State is a home-and-home for Seattle due to geography?

Tarleton’s first four games in November are on the road at Kansas, Wichita State, North Dakota State, and Michigan. Quite the schedule out of the gate.

Is North Dakota State a home and home? Or part of a MTE?

Not sure about the home and home, but it’s possible since the game is scheduled on a Monday and likely wouldn’t be an MTE with that date.

Tarleton is loading up. Not playing guarantee games unless it's a true name team.

Update to the main thread.

We started to add women's basketball games as well. These are a bit harder to track, so appreciate any and all help there as well.

IlliterateTexan told us all how we have to schedule tough in the OOC. Here’s a little Texas two-step insight for you. Step one: schedule tough in OOC. Step two: actually try to win a few of those games. Gonna look like fools when you start WAC play 0-10. Maybe these money games are the Junior Aggies way of funding their way to FBS….03-rotfl

At least three games are tied to a MTE where it seems like low/mid majors play at high majors, then the high majors play a neutral tourney in Vegas it appears. Not clear if Tarleton also gets game at neutral site

I believe you can only play in one MTE each season. I don’t think Tarleton is in 3 MTE’s.

No, they are in one MTE which is all that is allowed.

The games in the MTE (Roman Classic) are what brings them to North Dakota State, Wichita State and likely one other school. I just indicated I was not clear if Tarleton has a game or games in Vegas tied to the MTE.

RE: Future Men's & Women's Basketball Schedules - Western Athletic Conference
In addition to the game at Duquesne, Weber State will also play road games at Dixie State and Tarleton State, both of the WAC. Last season's road game at Dixie State was nixed due to COVID-19 protocols and that two-game series is expected to be pushed back and remain as planned, with Dixie then traveling to Ogden in 2022.

WSU's in-season addition of a home game against Tarleton State in January brought with it an agreement for the Wildcats to return the trip. WSU will play at Tarleton on Nov. 27, Dec. 4 or Dec. 11.
