Great job, Huskies! This team is so fun and exciting to watch. It’s great to see a team in a Huskie uniform winning. Keep it up, ladies!

He should also supplicate himself before a photo of the women’s team while self-flagellating in an act of contrition.

Whats post-season look like this year for WBB? They still go to the MAC tourney, and can still go to some form of NCAA/NIT?

RE: WBB
n May, the MAC announced a basketball tournament structure change. I have not heard of more changes since.

From that release: "A basketball postseason tournament will still be held but all first-round home games will be eliminated. Instead, the top eight teams from the regular season will automatically advance to Cleveland for second-round play at Quicken Loans Arena. The conference is also eliminating divisions for men's and women's basketball and will expand to a 20-game conference slate in the regular season, expanding from the previous format of 18 games.
The changes go into effect starting with the 2021 season and will be in place for at least four years, (commissioner Jon) Steinbrecher said."

Depending on how they rank the top 8 teams (conference won-loss, conference won-loss %, whatever), Northern as of right now would be in top 8 ... 1-2-3 seed, I don't know. The Huskies have 6 games left on the schedule. I don't know if any postponed games are left to make up.

Bowling Green, 11-3 0.786
Northern Illinois 9-3 0.75
Central Michigan 11-4 0.733
Ohio 10-5 0.667
Buffalo 8-4 0.667
Kent State 6-3 0.667
Eastern Michigan 6-4 0.6
Ball State 8-6 0.571

Next is Toledo, with 5-9 and 0.357.

(Anyone else, please add or correct as needed.)

Looks like a big week with Ohio and the "doubleheader" against Kent in the next six days. Looks like both Kent games are at the Convo, probably to save travel.

I try to follow the women much more closely than the men and with the crazy schedule haven't seen the more recent games but can surmise that they have been winning close games, games against teams with good records, games from behind----all signs or possible indicators of well coached teams and teams that like playing with each other. Hopefully that is the case.

I'd like to think that our conference is more than a one bid conference this year and don't think that any secondary tourneys will be offered----so hopefully they can stay strong and make a run. (although it looks like a 5-7 free for all).

RE: WBB
PVK, you always seem to have great insight on the WBB landscape and was wondering what is the situation with Alexis Legan? I just find her transfer very odd. She is a California girl transferring from Long Beach State. Not a WBB mecca but a low Div 1 program like NIU. She isn't getting PT, so why would she transfer to the Midwest if it is not a better opportunity?
Is there something more to this? Or does NIU offer something education wise that is a future endeavor of her liking?

RE: WBB
Thanks, but the insight is a little fogged over right now, working through some health issues. Fortunately, there are others on the board with better contacts; don't know where they went just now.

I don't know what her status is, but Northern has a slew of guards ahead of her. Same situation she had at Long Beach State, though she left with no apparent animosity (I recall reading their fan board about her transfer). As a frosh played in 17 games in 2019-20 for LBSU and hit 48% from three, so there seems to be potential especially in this offense. She played 7 total minutes in two games for NIU, scoring 2 with one steal. Last appearance was 1/27 vs. Akron.

Sorry can't be more help; there are others who might. Hopefully they check in.

Thanks PVK and I hope you feel better. It seems that NIU basketball never recruits west of the Rockies and seemed unusual. She was probably in the portal and caught the eye of Coach Carlson.

An awful home loss today. Turnovers and horrific decision making. That will be the downfall for this team in the postseason.

Not enough difference makers to play this loose and out of control.

Let's see if they can regroup and play better tomorrow.

Have to. Hopefully Davis can continue to be a force. Koker for all her volume scoring cannot be trusted. 7 turnovers for her today. She continues to force and her decision making is awful.

That said Carlsen even said herself the last inbound play was her fault. Should have used her last timeout.

What a cluster of a game today. Still can’t take care of the basketball. It’s has been and will continue to be their undoing until this coaching staff starts to preach quality over quantity on offense.

Very ugly loss. Not sure what the heck has happened to this team the last two games - and at home, too.

When the visiting team goes 9 of 10 in threes in the first quarter, it is hard to make that up
