RE: MBB @ Towson 1/30 and 1/31
The CAA decided that one award was enough for Kochera and gave Hofstra's Kvonn Cramer the Rookie of the Week.

In the nineteen complete seasons with northern teams, there were eight times when a team had at least two players on the Rookie Team. The only team to have three players on the Rookie Team was George Mason in 2004-2005 with Will Thomas, Folarin Campbell, and John Vaughan. As sophomore, Thomas and Campbell were starters on the Final Four team.

Covington is averaging exactly 10 points. In the last nine complete seasons, the freshman teammates to average at least 10 points were Elon's Hunter McIntosh (11.7) and Hunter Woods (10.1) in 2019-2020, James Madison's Matt Lewis (14.5) and Darius Banks (10.2) in 2017-2018, and Drexel's Kurk Lee (14.9) and Kari Jonsson (10.1) in 2016-2017.

Other than the mess with Shaver, we haven't had a lot of high performing kids leave the program. I guess Calvin Baker counts as one, and before that you go way back to Bill Phillips, Tom O'Gorman, Mike Arazin. It just doesn't happen that often. I probably missed a couple. Point being, is that kids that come here to play do so for the education part. We aren't recruiting players that are expected to play in the NBA.

With the transfer portal that started fall 2019, the movement of players will become a likely and is a risk for programs like W&M to lose players to P5. Audige move to Northwestern being the best example as he had decided before the season ended when he posted his freshmen highlight video in mid February 2019!

I do think that Kochera and his fellow mates have bonded and hopefully no move is on his radar!

I don't recall that Chase posted any highlight video in February 2019. If you have the link, I'd love to see it. I only remember the ones he posted after entering the portal. Even if he did, it's not good evidence of an intention to transfer. Many players who aren't trying to leave post highlights.

I remember a certain degree of speculation that Pierce had intended to leave anyway and it turned out to be bogus. Players transfer all the time when coaches are fired and there was no evidence it was anything different with the four who left. Chase said himself he considered coming back here.

I think you would have to go back to Calvin Baker to find a transfer not motivated by the coach's dismissal or the loss of a starting spot/meaningful playing time (including dismissal from the team). No one in my era has ever left just because they thought they could find a prettier girl at the dance and I wouldn't believe speculation Kochera, or anyone else, would do the same until I saw good evidence for it.

Are we going to continue adjudicating this? From everything I’ve read on this board, we have 100% confirmed that Chase was gone regardless but also 100% confirmed that Chase only left because of Shaver’s dismissal, 100% confirmed that Nate’s the reason Shaver got fired while also 100% confirmed that Nate loved Shaver, 100% confirmed that Pierce was chasing Power5 no matter what but also 100% confirmed Pierce was going to W&M BSchool until Shaver was let go. Etc, etc, etc. There is a true story, but we don’t know. Let’s enjoy the guys in uni now, thank those who came before (for the 1-4 years they were here), and move the heck on.
