RE: Hawks v. Hofstra
The Dodd situation is the biggest mystery to me.

When you're his size, and your coach would rather have a rail thin forward play center over you, there's a problem. I figured Siddle would completely shake things up with Sims out, and he didn't. Jenkins didn't play, Dodd barely played, Tolefree didn't play.
He's playing one sub rather than play guys who aren't earning PT.

Kind of like Coach Siddle's Hoosiers moment for the program.

Linssen transferring wasn't a shock. The CB McGrath system liked to use big men in traditional big men roles.

And I'll never blame a player for taking the Grad Transfer route, ever. He's currently getting 13+ minutes per game (6.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg) with a 7-2 Saint Louis team. It worked out well for him.

Knowing what we know now, I'm willing to give Keatts the benefit of doubt regarding Chuck.

But you can’t deny every single time that dude came in, he contributed. It was well documented here. We gave it a pass because we were winning the CAA, not 1-5. Not suggesting Dodd is Chuck, just saying if we are truly planning for the future he needs more PT so there is a big enough sample size to pass judgement

For who to pass judgement? Us, the fans? Siddle sees and knows more than anybody and he's already passed judgement. That's good enough for me. The little i've seen of Dodd in games, hasn't been impressive.

That’s my point, he hasn’t seen a bough in game action, period. And you can’t pass a legitimate judgement based off of what you have seen in games this year. It’s way to small of a sample size. And no, it’s not for the fans. Regardless of what 08 says some guys play different in games than practice. And if we are truly in planning for next year mode, what do we have to lose?

I think you answered the question. Dodd may not factor into Siddle’s plan next year. The offseason will be interesting to say the least with players getting an extra year and being able to transfer without sitting out.

Perhaps, and if that’s the case I’d be leaving if I were him too.

I will give my 2 cents here and give a clear example from Drexel. One of the highest rated recruits under Bruiser was Kent Tribbett. He started almost every game during his time. Typically he was pulled out either the first media timeout or first stoppage. He was lost on the court and looked like he did not belong in D1.

Fans constantly wondered why he even started because he was the definition of useless, even after 4 years. Go to find out, he was the best player on the team or close to it in practice. It never translated to the game, but the coaching staff tried hard to make it work based on what they saw every day. It just never happened. He did eventually fight his way through whatever mental block he had between practice and game because he has had a decent career overseas. So that type of stuff does happen and there are times when fans just dont have the access to what the coaches do or what they see.

Except in this case we have actually seen Dodd be successful in games, last year

Fair, the opposite can be true as well. Awful in practice but perfectly fine in games. Its not a single edged sword

I agree. Thus the reason I want to see more :) Dodd was on fence about leaving and decided to stay. He deserves more of a shot ImO
