Any man that threatens to kill John Calipari is okay in my book. Chaney is a legend. RIP Coach.

He was a helluva coach. I remember him and Rollie Massimo going at it back when I was a kid.

RE: Temple Basketball Coach John Chaney Dead At 89
Today Chaney could probably not be a coach. Kids would not play for him, and administrators would not tolerate him. Too bad, because there are hundreds of young men that did play for him that would probably tell you he was exactly what they needed in their lives--even if they didn't fully appreciate it at the time. One of my favorite Chaney things was his 5:30 AM practices. He got the team in, they did their work, then showered and were back out in time for class. That was critical to him. He also felt that they were less likely to be out late when trouble happens if they knew practice started at 5:30. I would have hated that, but it was genius.
