That team up north
I try not to talk about that "other school" much but was talking to a couple buddies who are alums and it's amazing how much they absolutely despite Balado and how badly they want him gone. And they said there are many more who feel the same and won't support that program until there's a change. After their sweep over ULM, Balado supposedly thanked the "true" fans on Twitter. Going against the fans on social media when times are tough for your program...probably isn't the smartest move.

ASU fans have been down on their basketball program for a long time. They have had one good year, in the last decade or so, and the coach that year left after his only season in Jonesboro. They likely have unrealistic expectations, but the right coach could probably get it done there, just as we have proved that the right coach can win in Little Rock.
Considering how bad they despised Nutt and Brady, near the end of their tenures, it's hard to believe they could hate Balado any more.

Balado never really got his popularity off the ground with our fan base. He took over a team that was coming off by most purposes a stronger season, and promptly took them to the bottom of the league.
The loyal fans turned on him last year, and more are turning now. Balado's issue is that Blake Anderson is gone. Blake sort of played as a distraction to keep the fan base from pushing for a basketball change more, but now that Blake is gone, and we have buyout money to burn, there's nothing left to take the fall.
There's been rumors for a while that Mohajir is not a fan of Balado's, but there's no real proof behind it, so we'll see.

Things have changed in 3 weeks. Balado and the Wolves have a great chance to get a first round bye. The cancellation of one of the games against TxSt (only one will be played at the beginning of next week) does decrease their chances of winning the division, but 2nd place is there for the taking. To me, they look to have some good young talent and a bright future, while we are a big question mark right now. Unless ASU really tanks to end the season, I would think Balado's job is quite secure. Of course, they have a new AD coming so who knows.

I guess that is irrelevant at this point. Chasse Conque came in and fired Coach Shields, the year he was hired, but he did have a few months to sort things out.
