Garrick McGee has a new job?
From FootballScoop:
https://footballscoop.com/the-scoop-2/th...y-27-2021/
Florida: Source tells FootballScoop Dan Mullen plans to promote Garrick McGee from analyst to quarterbacks coach. McGee, the former UAB head coach, has served as quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator at Louisville, Arkansas and Illinois.

I hope I'll be able to get a job that easy if I become that incompetent!

Where are we still wasting time discussing the "stache". He's definitely not worth the effort.

RE: Garrick McGee has a new job?
Just because someone is a horrendous head coach doesn’t mean that person is a bad position coach

RE: Garrick McGee has a new job?
Isn't Mullen a QB guy? How does McGee keep getting job titles at places where the HC basically does his job? The guy may be smarter than we give him credit for. Though, not many coaches elect to kickoff to start both halves.

When NcGee arrived at UAB (post Callaway) he said things many UAB fans applauded. He said UAB could win with the facilities it already had and with the players already on the team. Those who preached that UAB just needed to hire "the right coach" and that new facilities were not needed loved him. After the team put up a 5-19 record and the coach voluntarily left for another job, some saw the light about the need for new facilities. I see McGee as the catalyst for Blazer change in which FBHC Clark was able to make his own program - with 14 new JUCO players (including his new QB among the 9 from Cal.) he went 6-6 before the program was interrupted for two seasons but came back with new football facility - the first in almost 30 years. Now we are getting used to winning games and championships. I like this era better.

So do I. I guess we need to reflect and remember how bad it can be.

Any of us who were in the stands through the Callaway and McGee eras should not need reminding about how bad things could be. I was at McGee games where the attendance was under 10,000. I think the *average* attendance for McGee's last season was just a little more than that, 11k, 12k.

Catalysts for change usually come with painful experience and McGee's two years were no exception.
When I was in high school (1954-1958), Bama went through a 20 consecutive game losing streak over 3 seasons including those with Bart Starr on the team (UAB has never been that bad). That caused the school to reach out to Paul Bryant at Texas A&M.
It was in my senior year that in October Sputnik I was launched followed in November by Sputnik II with a dog on board. In December Vanguard blew up on the Florida launch pad convincing the USA that they needed to incorporate the military in the space program. In January we launched Explorer I using the Army's Redstone rocket. Since then, many of our space programs have been launched by military ICBMs in various configurations including the Mars mission we are currently celebrating.
