Coach Boatner went back and liked Lieberman’s tweet about Brandon Carroll announcing his commitment this week.

I found a site that has his stats from both Bryant and Florida Southern on one page if that is helpful.

CAA MBB Transfers 2021
Some Twitter conversation about Carroll from Bryant fans:
"I was disappointed to see him go. Super athletic and can play multiple positions. He really picked up his 3PT shooting at Florida Southern as well (37.5% this year and 45.9% the year before). Clearly a D1 talent. I'll be interested to see where he lands."

"I can see him playing the 3 at any high level program. We know he’s got lockdown defensive potential to go along with outstanding measurements. His improved 3PT shooting is a great sign! Crafty scorer. If he gets comfortable in the right program... I would not want to guard him."

"I think he can play the 4 and slide to the 3 at times at a lot of different levels of D1. He'd be a great get for most mid major teams. I also neglected to mention that he averaged 1.9 steals and .9 blocks as well. Very versatile"

"Agreed! He’ll be a huge mismatch for any squad at the 4. Bigs will have to leave the paint and he will blow by them with ease. He has great defensive instincts as well as length to disrupt passing lanes. Outside of basketball: 34 on his ACT and future law school student!"

If we get Carroll, he seems like a really great get, immediate starter & high impact player. We are missing talent on the wing currently and this would go a long way there. He’d probably start at the 3 with us with Quinn at the 4, Wight at the 5, and Covington and Kochera in the backcourt. That allows all 3 freshman plus Jake and Harvey to be a really nice 5 guys off the bench initially though Rice might push for starting time at some point. I’d guess many guys outside of those 10 wouldn’t play a lot barring injury and obviously for Carroll to come in, someone is leaving if they haven’t left already.....

RE: CAA MBB Transfers 2021
I'll be interested to see Coach Fischer's rotations and strategies if we can actually go small or extra big. IMO, while Connor is a great scorer, he's got a room to improve the rest of his game. I'd rather have 2 other guards out there with him, but if we get Carroll then we have to either shift Carroll to the 4 or only play one of the two. But having 7-8 players that all have an argument for starting is a problem I'd like to have.

That is a dumb statement. Just based on our projected starting 5 and not including incoming freshmen, there's Covington, Kochera, Blair, Wight/Harvey, Milkereit. They are all CAA level players. Maybe not all of them are All-CAA level players, but it's ridiculous to suggest that they're not good enough to play in our current conference. Add in 3 highly touted freshmen and a potential transfer and it's easy to see potentially 9-10 players competing for a starting spot on a team full of talent.

Back to talking transfers. I don't want to derail this thread with more nonsense.

I like Carroll at the 3 with the ability to move him to the 4 in certain lineups. I envision a 2 deep looking something like this:
1) Covington - Rice
2) Kochera - Milkereit
3) Carroll - Lewis
4) Blair - Wight
5) Harvey - Hatton

There is position flexibility throughout this 10 which will be useful against different matchups and insulation against foul trouble.

MrJ, you must have been reading my mental thoughts as I was taking my 30 minute ride into work this morning. I agree 100% with your suggested starters and pairs of players and like the fact that you also see Wight potentially moving to the 4. I truly believe that the team that you project will be a very competitive team in the CAA next year, particularly with the roster turnover that many of the teams are facing. It really would be great to pick up Carroll.

Other than some twitter follows we don't have any more info on Carroll, right? Let's not count our chickens before they hatch...

He's following a fair amount of coaches, though I can't tell when he followed each one

More clues than that, but I hear you. Nothing is official until it's official. Consider us speaking it into happening.

It'll be a helluva architectural change going from Frank Lloyd Wright's Florida Southern to Sir Christopher Wren's (but not really) W&M.

This would be a solid rotation. I think we will definitely miss Luke's overall play, defense, and leadership. But, this new rotation would give more depth and also more class balance than last season. Overall, it would also still be a fairly young team. Really interested in seeing Rice, Lewis, and Hatton and how they fit into the playing style of Coach Fischer.
