The critics are right about one thing: Too many P5 affiliated members. Need more G5 affiliated members.

RE: New CFP Committee Members
Why even have a committee when you only letting in 4 schools? I mean hell the old BCS way made more sense than randomly picking a committee who should be replaced IMO with today’s technology. I can see the need for a human connection if selecting a larger field, but today’s technology can just as easily pick the top 4 schools. If schools across the country can agree on criteria upon choosing teams, and that particular body of work would be the only determining factor then it shouldn’t b a issue. The issue today is to many people want to change the criteria from game to game, and pretty much blame the smaller schools for their scheduling. Maybe instead of worry about who we schedule to enhance a teams profile we should be looking at blind stats across the board and making it a more level playing field than what we see in today’s popularity contest.

RE: New CFP Committee Members
Why won't the men's basketball Selection Committee ever consider a member that isn't affiliated with a university or conference? It would be nice to have at least one person without a conflict of interest. I'm not saying they are all biased but I've seen cases through years of doing the Schmolik 64 where having a member on the Selection Committee has helped a bubble team get in the Big Dance and/or given a team a more favorable seed and I didn't find it a coincidence. I'm not saying if I were on the Selection Committee I wouldn't be biased towards my schools/alma maters but I'm not paid by Illinois or Penn State. If Illinois makes the NCAA's and/or does well, I don't see a dime. Illinois's AD does. The Big Ten's commissioner does. If they can help Illinois get in the tournament they'd have incentive to do so.

And Joe Taylor probably the most knowledgeable member of the committee when it comes to football.

Looked him up. Good resume. Still, he has never coached above I-AA.

You actually make a valid point, but there’s money to be made by talking heads using a committee model. Plus, they haven’t been wrong in the 4 selected IMHO since the start of CFP.

A man whose area of expertise is college football, replaced by a man whose area of expertise is raising money. 07-coffee3

(Yes, yes, I understand that Del Conte is technically replacing Castiglione as the Big 12 AD on the committee.)
