Teams get:

New England: Stafford/Watt
Houston: Draft picks
NY Jets: Watson
Detroit: Flacco

Jets and Lions probably ALSO get picks

RE: 4-team NFL trade idea
New England gets much better on both sides of the ball. New York Jets get better at QB but defense is still lacking. Detroit trading Stafford for Flacco seems like a downgrade. Houston getting draft picks means they don't intend on competing immediately.

I'd say New England makes out like a bandit and the others probably get a little worse or stay the same.

Would the Jets prefer Darnold?

Too complicated. JJ Watt is not going to want to go to the Patriots. Watt wants a shot at a Super Bowl. He is not a great player at this point of his career. Cleveland with Myles Garrett on the other side and Sheldon Richardson inside would be a good fit. They can take on his $17.5 million 2021 contract and they have an extra 3rd round pick and an extra 4th round pick that they can use in a trade.

Matthew Stafford looks like a great fit for the Colts. The Colts have cap space and should be able to get the deal done with a 1st round pick (#21) overall.

Houston management should be hung if they trade Watson. But just in case they do, the Jets have two first round draft picks (#2 and #23). They could trade those two picks, plus their 2022 first round pick and Sam Darnold for Watson.

Detroit is a mystery. They will need a QB. Flacco is not the answer. With the #7 pick in the first round, I think they go with Justin Fields or Zach Wilson or Trey Lance.

Fields and Wilson will be gone by #7. Lance isn't a top 10 pick.

Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft had Wilson going at #4, Fields at #7 and Lance at #8.
