Well I sort of stand corrected. Nevertheless the American has twice beaten the Big 12 champ as well as the SEC and ACC runner up. SDSU and Boise have beaten the Pac 12 runner up in recent years. Louisiana smoked the Big 12 runner up this year.

It depends on the year and depends on the team. Usually Sagarin ratings give you a decent idea of who stacks up where in a macro sense.
