RE: "Rankings" thread for the season
But if I was betting today, I would lay my money on the conference tournament not happening. If standings held , wich state would be automatic qualifier and Houston an at large. Smu and memphis would be nowhere near that bubble

How can the standings hold?

Well the season isn't ending today.
And SMU is clearly on the bubble, according to the gurus.
We are just one big win away from being squarely on the bubble.

Bad timing for the bug to hit. We don’t really have a path to an at large bid now imo. Down to Wichita state and smu.
Not exactly.
For one, some of the computers have us as the #2 team in the AAC, behind Houston and ahead of both SMU and Wichita. And all computers have us ahead of Wichita. But the pundits have us behind Wichita. It's an interesting situation.
And second, we absolutely have a path to an at large. Even if we don't make up any games - not sure why we wouldn't - if we run the table, we're on the bubble. It would include a win over Houston and a win @ Cincy, a Quad1 and a Quad2 win.
Contrary to what some of you want to think and the CA says, I find it hard to believe the AAC will not reschedule any more games. Don't forget, the Wichita win over Houston this week was a reschedule itself. IIRC, we were originally supposed to play Wichita then.

Computers aren’t resume.
And if we win out, Wichita state still has a better resume unless they lose both games to smu. And if smu beats Wichita state both games, smu will have a better resume than us.
Conference will get 2. No scenario where it gets 3.
Is what it is

What are you talking about? We win out and we are 3-1 against Houston, Wichita and SMU.

Ummm if we won out we would win the AAC.... and the computers are way better than some arbitrary cutoff of 75 being a quad 1 win on the road and 76 being magically worse.

There’s a reason smu and Wichita state are on everyone’s bubble and we aren’t......
I have blue shaded glasses too.... but they won’t help us

You need to clean the glasses.
Assuming no makeup games, if we win out...
We win the AAC regular season.
We would be 3-1 vs Houston, Wichita, SMU - with the lone loss being a tight road game.
We would be 5-5 in the top 2 quads with no bad losses.
We would be the clear #2 in all computer rankings.
We would be 16-6.
We would be 12-3 since DeAndre became eligible.
We would likely be receiving votes in the top 25.
We would be a lock for the NCAA.

Link?
No makeup games and we will have played more games than Wichita and SMU. What the number of minimum games?
You're just throwing stuff out there at this point, to support a really bad original take that has been proven full of holes.

there is no minimum games rule
but the conference is basing their seating on winning percentage

Yeah, I know. He just keeps making absurd statements.
We actually need a little help, now that I look at the games.
If we win out and Wichita wins out, they get #1 by playing 1 less game and having 1 less loss.
So we have to win out, and Wichita has to lose one of SMU, Tulane, or Temple.

And Houston has now scheduled a game with WKU for 2/25.
So I still think we can makeup games. We need the AAC to figure this out. But they need to programs to get out of quarantine to do so.
We need that Wichita game made up.

RE: "Rankings" thread for the season
If I'm not mistaken, we have been included on TWO of the brackets aggregated into The Bracket Matrix ( http://www.bracketmatrix.com/)!
Memphis is one of the "other at large" teams on the matrix, tucked in just below Kentucky (8-13) and above Penn State (7-12). But, it's team, not the conference, right?
Riiiiiiiiiight.

RE: "Rankings" thread for the season
According to one of the columnists or beat writers - can't recall which - Lunardi says if we win out the regular season we will be on the bubble with a good shot at getting an AL bid. However, Palm says we won't and we have to win the tourney. I am choosing to believe Lunardi on this one. For all the reasons previously stated.
