Say goodbye to NBCSN

I know we're not on it, but there was lots of talk about how Aresco needed to shop our rights around a bit more.

Speculation is that most of what used to be on NBCSN will end up on Peacock. Streaming is the future...

So NHL will now be almost exclusively streamed?

the vast majority of EPL goes to Peacock. since Peacock is provided for free with my cable subscription, thats no big deal to me, but i imagine it will be a big blow to their viewership numbers

I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you! I can’t believe the powerhouse that is the A-10 basketball wasn’t enough to bring ratings up.

Also this kills about half of NBC’s NASCAR content, not that anybody is watching that mess anymore.

Many years ago people on this board were advocating NBCSN over ESPN

I was probably one of those, not realizing that streaming was going to be this large (dummy on my part) or that NBC could bring up their value, which did not pan out. NBC is a joke as far as sports coverage is concerned, with the pandemic killing the Olympics and showing that Hockey is not a premier sport anymore.

MLB and NHL are doing a good job making sure fans can’t watch their teams.

Comcast (NBC-Universal) will be gone within a decade unless they get A grip on their money maker, network news... I haven't watched anything from them since GE sold NBC-Universal to Comcast.

NBCSN consistently had higher ratings than both ESPN2 and FS1. This has been perplexing for a lot of people, and will more than likely lose them the EPL in a year.

64t. NBC Sports Network 245 -26%
66. BBC America 238 +4%
67. Fox Sports 1 236 -25%
68. FXX 233 -15%
69. CMT 232 +0%
70. NFL Network 231 -21%
71. WGN America 219 -33%
72. SundanceTV 212 -2%
73. Pop TV 209 +49%
74. Heroes and Icons 208 +6%
75t. ESPN 2 207 -33%
75t. IFC 207 -5%

While it is indeed ahead of FS1 and ESPN2, all 3 networks saw dramatic falls in viewership this past year. It's still a puzzling decision, as you could easily link the fall in sports viewership to Covid leading to (a) tons of canceled events and (b) people being concerned with more important things than watching sports.

Yeah, it's just a very weird decision unless they think that everyone is going to flock to Peacock to watch a 12 year old sitcom and soccer.

Apparently stuff will be moving to USA Network. I just think NBC Sports is just going to roll with Sunday Night Football, Notre Dame Football, PGA Tour, NASCAR/Indy Car & Horse Racing. They already have NBC Sports channel on Peacock, so I suspect Atlantic 10 basketball will be moved there.

Wonder if the 2020 Olympics delay really forced this. I feel like the 24 hour Olympic coverage is really what boosted the NBCSN as a network. It feels like that was the channel I probably had on sparring until it’s Olympic time and then it’s just on 24-7.

That sucks. I get Peacock for 'free' via my cable as well, but it's harder to access than NBCSN and so frankly I often forget that it even exists, LOL.

I liked the convenience of EPL games on NBCSN, among other things. Will be missed by me.

Same with the NFL. The first game I tried to watch this year for the Bengals was on CBS or Fox at the same time as the Browns but it wasn't broadcasted in my area. I live in ******* COLUMBUS OHIO. Talk about bs. Luckily didn't have that issue the rest of the season but it pissed me off
