RE: UNCW vs. Delaware
Nobody ever said we don't need size. That's ridiculous. And saying it over and over doesn't make it true.

This really isn't that difficult, this is a math issue.

We play four guards and one center. Since we don't have a power forward who plays in the post, we can't use our centers and PF's interchangeably If you are a center at UNCW, that's all you do.

As a result, we can only go three deep in that position, and still have enough scholarships to fill out the four guard spots. Again, not hard to understand

When Siddle arrrived, our only true center that had played any amount of minutes transferred out. That left Siddle with two "bigs", and those two were unkown factors in that position. But they were definitley not "fours" in a Siddle system. That left Siddle with three options. 1) Keep Dodd and Bowen and try to add a five who could contribute immediately(that's what he did). 2) Keep Dodd and Bowen, hope one of them could contribute immediately, and bring in a freshman five(HUGE risk). 3) Let go of Dodd and Bowen(ala Keatts) and bring in three new players at the five(not easy to find three quality bigs, plus you'd have to rescind two schollies and still have no idea how they would do).

So, of those three options, which one would have been a better choice?

I'm really not sure what anyone would expect. Should we have put four guys on scholarship to play one position just in case one left, one got injured, and one didn't pan out? We are not going to have a lot of depth at the five as long as Siddle is here. We only had three bigs on the roster under Keatts. The real problem goes back to McGrath. With a traditional lineup of a center and PF, why did we only have 3 big men on the roster?

Siddle didn't inherit a team with Craig Ponder, Freddie Jackson, Chuck Ogbodo, Dylan Sherwood, CJ Gettys, Addison Spruill and Cedrick Williams. If he did, we would be near the top of the CAA already. Any one of those players would start on this team.

I like the fact Siddle is setting an expectation for the team and players. Jenkins and Tolefree are on the roster(I assume Tolefree is still), yet they haven't earned PT. When Sims got out of control, he was benched and started coming off the bench, win or lose. This is not a short term sprint, it's a marathon to turn around a three year nightmare.

If Shy was playing, I'd argue he inherited more talent, just not any with any size(aside form Boggs). The only size he had, he let walk. Sims, Mike, Boggs, Ty are a pretty damn solid 4 guys to inherit along with Shy.

Not even close. I'd take the group Keatts had and destroy the group Siddle had 70% of the time. Just go position by position, and the Keatts group is better at every spot.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Obviously a lot more size, but the guards and wings i'd take on this team(healthy) all day long. If you want to say what he inherited was more balanced, absolutely.
And We'd have to include Shy, because he was also inherited. Shy is better than anyone on that KK list.
