When called out, he changed his story. Why? Because he doesn't know what he's talking about. If he knew the difference between the KGB and FSB he never would have said KGB in the first place.

So, you were 15, alone in a foreign country, carrying no money and no valid ID? While I'm letting the foolishness of that scenario sink in for a second, may I ask, were you also there doing some sort of "Christian missionary" work? Cuz if you were, that would really be the trifecta. That would just be a home run.

Do YOU know the difference between the KGB and the FSB?

One was the komitet gosudarstvenoi bezopastnosti (KGB) which literally translates to Public Safety Committee. Комитет государственной безопасности in Russian.

The other is federalnaya sluzhba bezopastnosti (Federal Security Service). Федеральная служба безопасности in Russian. Just because one says Federal in the name do you suddenly think they didn't do damn near the same thing?

BOTH were charged with domestic intelligencs services, border control, drug smuggling, organized crime. The FSB did not get the foreign intelligence directive that the KGB had as well as a couple of other functions. Domestically speaking, they are the same. Putin was the head of MOST of what the KGB ended up being under Yeltsin. He was and is a killer.

I spent several months there over a few different trips as a teen and still speak Russian fluently. The first two trips (92 and 93) were with my junior high/high school where I learned Russian (Craigmont in Memphis) and the last I received a scholarship to go live there in a family attending a school in central Moscow 94-95. I keep up with past friends there, one in particular who works in the government in Moscow and who gives me an honest opinion about the goings on.

I had no identification on me because anyone under 16 years of age there does not have to. Also, why risk losing a passport or visa by carrying it around? I *might* have had my TN learner's permit on me.

And so what if I said KGB and it was really FSB? That's like saying Army Air Corps and Air Force. Same fugging thing. Not my fault
that you suppose you know things that you don't.

Have several tens, hell even hundreds of thousands, protested in Moscow and Russia about Navalny? Let's start there and see if the most basic of facts is agreed upon.

I can translate the two services' charters for you if you'd like so that you're able to make an informed decision.

And you were doing no proselytizing, Bible distributing, organizing church services, home Bible lessons in peoples homes?

If not having a passport was not really part of the story, why point it out?

Truly, its amazing that you lived to tell this "tale" since they easily could buried you in a shallow grave somewhere, because, you know, that's just how all Russians are. You know, walking around with sub machine guns and murdering people randomly, at will lol.

Clearly your Moscow based friend is not a typical Russian citizen, and your one run in as a teenage foreigner doing who knows what at the time has NO connection to the president of Russia today, almost 30 years later.

My next door neighbor as a kid was stopped by police in Arkansas while Clinton was governor, bit he never claimed that gave him any special insight into the mind of Bill Clinton as president lol. Check out the Clinton body counts and examine his foreign policy actions. Like most US Presidents, he was also a killer my friend. Grow up.

I can assure you I'm fully grown.

Zero proselytizing. I was with no group affiliated with Christianity at all.

Anecdotally, I was much less Christian then than I am now.

There are numerous accounts of foreigners there at the time meeting bad ends at the hands of Russian intelligence.

During that time when hundreds of billions of dollars were being stolen and sent to the west. Gotcha. They should have really been less careful and more trusting of the good intentions foreigners had for Russia is what you're saying. And so little was happening there, they had no reason to be on guard right? And if the 70 year system didn't become exactly like the one here over night, they are evil. Gotcha. Grow up.

Face it, the US f'd them over big time, lied, cheated and stole. And it all went straight in a bunch if rich Harvard connected peoples pockets. Russia got smart and realized the US never had any intentions of working with them or ever being anything like partners. They US wanted to control and dominate Russia to get all the money it could out of Russia, and into the US. That's what empires do. I get that. But the US cry baby mentality over getting caught, getting thrown out, and now having to deal with a more belligerent Russia than they could have had, and feigning innocent over the entire situation. Nobody is stupid enough to believe the US will leave an independent Russia alone. They will pick at every little thing, continue to encircle them militarily, to isolate them politically, and destroy them internally. All Russians, and a few Americans know what the game is. The US had a chance for a reset and they blew it. Don't blame Russia for reacting. Stop crying human rights. Gimme a break dude.

Maybe those that met bad ends should have enough common sense to look before they leapt into a very volatile situation that they didn't fully understand. People that have more bravado than brains often meet with bad ends. Nick Berg in Iraq? Ever heard of him?

You reply is so hard to understand.

It's like a connect the dots of things that no one talked about or insinuated where if you try to connect the dots you end up looking at a bowl of spaghetti.

You go from one lame brained, unproven, and hyperbolic accusation to another.

You have no idea what you're even talking about...and after this post, no one else does either.

Grow up.
