If that isn't a solid staff so far with another spot open, I don't know what is.

Do you not remember some of Mack Brown's staffs?

Like his first class when he came to UT? Chambers? Carl Reese? Withers..? Yeah But at least Reese had the hype coming from LSU with some good defenses.. But Chambers? lol

And he followed with people like Greg Robinson, Will Muschamp, Gene Chizek.
I wasn't impressed by Hartsin, but he was the hottest OC coach out there at the time. I am still unimpressed with Diaz, but he was the hottest DC coach out there at the time.

Yeah Mack made some really good hires along the way..and some boneheaded ones like Searles. But my point was this initial staff by Sark is pretty damn good.

yep he is probably going to be an analyst. The word is that he wanted to be around his son who is a PWO at GA and has another son who is a promising QB in high school. Texas went after him hard but he wanted some time off to focus on his boys. This is a good gig for him. He can continue to fight for his full buyout at SCe and be closer to both of his sons.

In about a season or two, I'm pretty sure he will then be ready to make the jump back to DC.

Makes sense and given his outbursts it can’t hurt his long term blood pressure to take a year off

Bowden won the MAC East & upset Northwestern at Akron. I expect him to be pretty good.

He will be the best coach ULM’s had. Akron’s been a disaster since firing him.

They had amazing skill position guys and Sarkisian was pretty unexceptional at Washington and USC. If Tom Herman didn't meet expectations with what he was able to do at Houston how in the world will Sarkisian be good enough?

UT was caught in the vise when they publicly whiffed on Urban Meyer and the fans demanded someone, anyone other than Tom Herman.

A lot of Texas fans are more delusional than Notre Dame about their place in today's football firmament. It's not 1977 anymore, but you'd never know it on the Forty Acres.

Butch Jones pulled the trigger quick when the ASU job opened. I was glad then and ecstatic at this point. The staff, professionalism, organization and focus on fixing the defense were all sorely needed. We have not had this kind of staff since building the best facilities in the conference and it’s going to be fun to see someone use them to their advantage.

The change is so evident already.

LOL. Texas has a much higher ceiling than ND, which is why BK was listening to UTs pitch.

They had a bad season under a lame duck coach, recruiting is bad.. and it's still 17 nationally, the roster was the 5th ranked in all CFB last season.. So excuse UT fans for wanting a little more than what Tom was producing on Saturdays.

There might be some truth to that although RR as a head coach has had a solid career.
The one blemish Michigan, and there is a good book on this called 3 and out.
