RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
Very extended run for Sheffield here. Just a very strange half from a rotation point of view. Been like 5-10 minutes since Olivari and Evee have been on the floor together. Fiedler getting extended rest. A very tired performance.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
ODU calls a timeout with a 25-16. Really have no clue what Pera's doing here with these lineups. I realize the guys are probably really tired, but I'm not sure why Pera isn't playing Fiedler, Olivari, and Evee together at all.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
Sheffield isn't there yet. He doesn't look as out of place as other freshmen I've seen, but he's a bit slow on defense and hasn't quite figured out his offensive game.

Down 6...will take it considering how we played. Let’s see if the starters can play the bulk of the 2H.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
30-24 ODU at the half.

Really solid defense from ODU outside of their inefficient zone at the start of the game. Combine that with a bunch of sloppy Rice TOs and some cold shooting and you get 24 points.

If you're Pera and you were handed these halftime stats and only a 6 point deficit, you'd be ecstatic. Pretty poor in most facets but still a very winnable game.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
Potentially a big swing to close out the half. ODU with the ball playing for the last shot to go up 10 or more. Evee steal with a couple of seconds and then a shooting foul as Evee looked out of control as he was trying to go the length of the court leads to 2 FTs to close it to 6 at the half.
Let’s hope the Owls can build on that.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
A very awful start to the second half for Rice. 36-24 ODU and we're missing every single shot by a mile. This is gonna happen from time to time when your team doesn't really have a penetrative threat. ODU defending the 3pt line really well, and that basically shuts down our entire offense.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
38-27 ODU with 14:58 left. Just one of those days where nothing goes right. Shots from 3 missing badly, guys being really tentative inside. Gotta just keep doing what we're doing and hope the shots start falling, because we're not having success beating ODU 1v1.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
Pera again with an...interesting lineup down 12. All three of Moore, Clark, and Havsa on the court. To his credit, we did momentarily cut the lead to 7.

Also switched to a very weird defense which has produced 3-4 straight wide open ODU 3s. ODU struggles shooting the ball but even so, this is a very shoddy zone.

46-36 ODU with 11:20 left. Don't really know how this game is even this close.

RE: Rice MBB vs. ODU
Just 18 minutes for Fiedler so far today. I guess it's possible he's really tired, but not sure I fully understand going small against an ODU team that's bullying us inside. Maybe if you had Poteat to give some minutes to, but Abercrombie at the 5 is a tough ask.

With all of my doomsday s*** above...it's down to a 1 point game. Abercrombie hits two 3s, Havsa hits one. And this is all without Evee or Olivari making shots.

Wow!! What a comeback! 51-all.

Evee with a loooong 3!

"He shot that from The Woodlands!" said the ESPN+ commentator.

Havsa playing down the stretch instead of Olivari. Is Olivari hurt? I know Havsa has made some big plays but I think we need Olivari's spacing.

Don’t see him on the bench or in the huddle.

Looks like he was just waiting to check in. Which means he was just sitting these last few minutes which...yikes.
