247 had him 3 Stars .8192
Rivals 3 Stars

Only P5 offer was Sadexcuse. Lots of Ivy offers so must be very bright which is needed for center.

I guess these rating folks can be off quite a bit.

Renfro proved to be a major upgrade all season at Center for our 'Cats. I'm not sure why he missed the Peach--injury or illness? Regardless, his presence might have been the difference in that 3rd quarter when UC's offense stalled so badly. In a close game that appeared to swing on one 3rd and 2 play, there were probably a dozen or more other snaps that could have turned the tide. He was missed.

He was sick. Not Covid but he stayed in Cincinnati.

He was very good this year. Big upgrade at center starting in the SMU game.

If I recall he had scholarship offers from about the entire Ivy League. Must be sharp as a tack.

Even smarter to pick the Cats over the Ivy League as they DNP this year.

If you look back at my posts during the first couple of games of the season I noted that Robinson tended to snap the ball low and/or sort of floated it out there; which effected Des' rhythm and being able to make a quicker decision even if by a hair. Further, Robinson would get stood up at the line of scrimmage. Renfro snapped a better ball and even as a freshman was not getting blown backwards.

Kid is going to be a 4 year starter for us here and will probably be playing on Sundays down the line.

That's awesome! LT (if right handed QB) and Center IMO two most important positions on the line. Awesome to have one of those positions locked up for a couple more years minimum.

I sat by Jakari Robinson's family one game two years ago. They were a great family to speak with and wish him and his family nothing but the best! Depth is always needed even if it's just for a breather or slight injury.

I absolutely love this kid. I admit I'm partial to the big uglies. He's listed at 6' 3" and 302 lbs. but he sure looked "thicker" than 302 to my eye. As a comp, Jason Kelce is 6' 3" and 295 lbs. Renfro has leverage in his lower trunk with wide hips and two legs like oak stumps. If there was ever a position on the field outside of QB to have a high IQ the center is a great place to start. I can't wait to see how this kid develops and improves over the coming seasons. What a get for our program.

I hadn't paid much attention to OL this year, which is a good thing. Last two years it was the glaring weak spot on the team.

Very impressive about Renfro. Center might be the hardest position to learn, but he slotted in like an old pro. No wonder the Ivies wanted him.

What a recruiting steal. I have a lot of confidence in this staff's ability to assess offensive line talent.

Yep, it's clear that even some of the stop-gap guys they got in the first class right after hire have done well too. I have full confidence that those who come (and stay) will be winners under Fickell.

Two years in a row we've had a player make that list. Sauce made it last year.

You know when you are recruiting well is when you can get freshmen to make a pretty big impact.

That is something I don't remember other coaching staffs being able to do (I could be wrong). Yes, the freshmen were able to come in and compete and fill in, but not have an immediate impact like these last few recruiting classes.

Maybe, but there are definitely exceptions. Mike Boone wasn't that highly recruited iirc, but he had a terrific freshman year for Tubs in 2014.
