From the Newsweek article: "In one example cited by prosecutors, a Chinese official sent Wang pre-written material via WeChat, including content denying human rights abuses in Xinjiang, which Wang quickly posted and shared back with the official. The DOJ said Wang also made edits at officials’ direction and reported engagement metrics.

The Justice Department further stated that Wang communicated with individuals tied to China’s intelligence apparatus and admitted she did not disclose her role as a foreign agent to U.S. authorities or inform readers that some content was published at the direction of Chinese officials."

Sounds different from reposting news releases, but whatever flips your switch.

She pleaded guilty to a felony:

"In a related filing, Wang agreed to plead guilty to the felony charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Authorities said the allegation stems from her acting on behalf of Chinese government entities without notifying the U.S. attorney general, as required under federal law.

As part of her plea agreement, Wang admitted she did not disclose her relationship with Chinese officials to U.S. authorities and did not inform readers that some content on her website had been published at the direction of the PRC government."

Sounds like reposting press releases to you? OK. You are entitled to your opinion.

Considering it is now a chargeable felony to post a pic of seashells forming a specific prime number just less than 8650, are you surprised?

The actions by the mayor might just get into having to register as a foreign agent, but this administrations history of charging severely minimizes this stuff.

Makes it that much easier to write off stuff as a fing joke. Great job DOJ…..

Since 1978, foreign students have been admitted into the U.S. for an unspecified period, enabling thousands to become “forever students” by perpetually enrolling in courses to avoid departure. The final rule ends this exploitation through several major reforms:

Fixed Admission Caps: Nonimmigrant students (F visas) and exchange visitors (J visas) will be admitted for the length of their specific program, not to exceed a maximum period of four years.

Mandatory Federal Extensions: Visa holders requiring additional time to complete an academic program must formally apply for an Extension of Stay (EOS) directly through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This transitions oversight from university staff back to federal authorities and subjects applicants to biometric vetting, background checks, and fraud screenings.

Reduced Departure Grace Period: The time allowed for F-1 students to prepare for departure, transfer schools, or change status following graduation is reduced from 60 days to 30 days.

Program Change Restrictions: The rule introduces strict limitations on academic changes.

This is a small start, but does not go nearly far enough. So-called 'students' from adversarial enemy countries like China, Iran, et cetra should not be admitted at all to any United States University.

Instead, she will attend the University of Chicago, her older sister Evita’s alma mater.
