RE: Final grades for every college football team this season
UCF at a D+ lacks any kind of common sense... every loss was to a good team..2 came down to the wire....despite ucf had plenty of opt outs, especially the bowl...
the only justification is "i expect ucf to be undefeated or close every year" they werent so they had a horrific year
no way ucf is a d+ then say smu is a B+ and houston is a C

Seems like a year where pass fail may be a better grading scale.
But yeah I would say a C is an accurate grade for UCF.

Media and the like have a mega crush on Iowa State. How in the heck are you going to give a team that finished 9-3, losing by 17 points to Louisiana an A+?

Exactly.
Here are a few more bad calls.
UNC and NC State each went 8-4 and got an A-?
BC went 6-5, Rice 3-3, Rutgers 3-6, Missouri 5-5 and Wake 4-5, and all got a B+?
Arky went 3-7 and got a B?
UCF went 6-4 and got a D+?
GTFO with that BS.

Cincinnati = A
Tulsa = B+
Memphis = B
SMU = B
Tulane = C+
ECU = C
Houston = C
UCF = D+
Navy = D+
USF = D+
Temple = D
Giving UCF a "D+" obviously means you are looking at performance relative to expectations. In that case, Tulsa clearly merits an "A", as they outkicked their coverage more than anyone.
I would also rate ECU and Tulane in the "B" range, as IMO they showed some clear improvement.

In general I agree with this. That said, If Iowa State was a student, they brought the equivalent of a 1.67 GPA into the season, so they exceeded expectations significantly. No way they had a better season than Tulsa tho.

The only one of those I have a problem with is UNC - they deserve a B- IMHO.
Arky didn't win a home SEC game in 3 years and there were some concerns with Pittman coming in this year - they vastly exceeded expectations and should have been 4-4.
I had concerns about Heupel before the season, and I certainly have them now - UCF is going backwards.
Rice winning 3 games against ANYONE right now is an achievement - B+ is fine.

Rice I believe missed out on the conference championship game last week of the season as well.
Boston College looked like a different team this year and had a pretty good season.
They weren't crazy grades really for anyone, nothing outrageous.

Thinking this was a good season for us in any way is lacking common sense. As far as fan morale is concerned, a D+ is generous. We lost to every single team with a pulse while blowing big leads, and made a 1-8 USF team look like the Chiefs on offense. I don't want to hear about opt outs. We had our best players on offense and defense in DG, Grant, Marlon, and everyone on the o-line. These excuses are frustrating to listen to from a non UCF fan. Our expectations are not to go undefeated every year. But giving up 40+ to atrocious teams, losing games we should be winning because of play calling, and our offense doing nothing when it really matters does not warrant a C or B like you say. Us losing close games is not caused by the opt outs. It is in our coaching staff's DNA. They don't know how to call a game, and they don't know how to recruit. And the worst part is it will not get better. We are suck with this coaching staff and lost the only player with any heart on defense in Grant. We are a 7 win team at best next year in a G5 conference. I understand the reasoning on your part, you are trying to attribute our regression to the strength of this conference. Point is we aren't nearly as strong of a conference as everyone would like to believe. Our bowl record this season was 1-5. The best team Cincy has had in a long time lost to an ok UGA team, and we got blown out by BYU. 2-3 years ago we were competing with and winning against an Auburn team that beat two #1 teams, and kept it within one score with Burrow's LSU team without our starting QB. But now because we lost a couple of D-linemen you want to excuse this disaster? Gowan, Davis, etc. were decent players for us but they were not game changers. Our younger players actually played better than them when they were called upon. The outcomes of the games we lost would not have changed even if we had them. Stop it Pesik

RE: Final grades for every college football team this season
IamYourDad remove the blind UCF homer expectations...and lets look at it objectively
you were 6-4/// you lost to:
byu- ranked
tulsa- ranked
cincy- ranked (3 point game)
@ memphis (1 point game)
now lets look at Houston who he gave a "C" too - 3-5
- almost blowout loss to a 4-4 hawaii, zero wins against anyone with a winning record ... all after sabotaging last season to make this season great...
or SMU with a B, despite a blowout loss ecu, and barely surviving games vs other bad aac teams....only 1 noteable win all season
both smu and houston had high expectation coming into the season...ucf isnt the only team with expectations for itself
you cant objectively give those teams b and c objectively and then give ucf a D+
