2021 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament Moved to JMU
This move makes sense for 2021, for multiple reasons. The press release does not mention whether or not fans will be allowed. I guess they don't know at this point.

They plan to move back to Washington DC in 2022.

good idea to send them to the school that's farthest away from the metro areas.

Smart move for this season. I wonder if it sends our conference down the womens path of a rotating location at home sites (that meet certain criteria like min 5k seating certain amenities etc). Would be funny if JMU makes the final with no or few fans allowed so that it basically rubs their fancy arena in their faces without being able to enjoy it

I really think that they'll go back to neutral arenas once it's safe to house regular fans again. It doesn't make sense to rent out an arena when fans can't buy tickets. Also, I'm sure that the CAA wants to stay as far away from Washington DC as possible right now.

I'd be totally fine if the MBB tournament rotated like for WBB as long as it's not at the same place more than one year in a row. I think every school other than Drexel has a nice enough and large enough arena to do it. Drexel could rent out Temple's arena if they were to host. I don't think that the Palestra is up to snub for a CAA MBB Tournament.

If you do that it has to be 2 years at a place before moving. Logistically moving it around every year I wouldnt think would be as feasible. 2 years lets a place really prepare and be ready for something and get the locals invested. Moving it every year makes that more of a challenge with more things that can go wrong in making it happen

They do it one year at a time for the WBB tournament, so no reason why they can't do it for the men's. There's more of an advantage for the hosting team for the MBB tournament so I really think it's unfair to do 2 years in a row on the same home court.
