RE: 2021 Schedule
Three of the four marquee conference games at home (I'd consider Navy the other). I like it.

RE: 2021 Schedule
This is damn near the perfect scenario to run the table. No Memphis + UCF, SMU, and Tulsa at home. All the national landscape will care about is at Notre Dame and at Indiana anyway, so I prefer the conference slate to be as advantageous as possible.

At ECU is a terrible trip and we seem to always struggle there. Otherwise that’s a nice road slate.

I'm sure their coaches and players already have that one circled on the calendar after the beat down in Cincinnati this season. I agree; it's potentially a trap game much like Purdue was for #6 Ohio State in 2018 when the Boilermakers prevailed 49-20 in West Lafayette and we all wondered, "How could that happen?".

I think our D is a little better now than then. I would hope we won't let #5 or somebody else roam free for 65 catches like we did then.

We'll kill 'em.

How is IU next year? I saw ND top 10. I saw IU in the teens I think.
What are our chances to win each?

Far better chance against IU obviously...but I think we are probably a 30-40% chance to win at ND as it stands right now too. Only think having me hedge my bets there is that Freeman knows our personnel inside and out AND we are playing at ND.

Hiring Freeman is almost like the NFL tactic of adding the guy who just got cut by your next opponent.

I agree with your assessment. Both opponents, on the road, will be real challenges. UC always seems to taste the home cooking from officials when playing @ B10 stadia. But this should be a UC team superior to most in the past and I like what UC might be able to do to shut down the Indiana passing game. ND will be a tougher environment and a more talented team a season removed from the CFP. Losing both would be a real downer. I think we could all live with a split and would celebrate mightily a sweep.

I know everyone's aspirations are the invitational, especially next year with the team we have, but hypothetically speaking it'll be interesting to see how the media/invitational committee treat a 1 loss (either IU or ND) UC team versus an undefeated team from the Sun Belt, MWC, C-USA. Would have to think UC is still favored with a loss from a top 10-15 team.

The CFP isn't putting an undefeated team ahead of 1-loss Cincinnati unless they have a really impressive out-of-conference resume.

One team in particular to keep an eye on is Louisiana. Here is their 2021 non-conference schedule:

09/04 - at Texas
09/11 - Nicholls
09/18 - Ohio
11/20 - at Liberty

If they go undefeated and we lose to ND or Indiana, they have a realistic shot at passing us. Not worried about Coastal, as they play the Citadel, Kansas, Buffalo, and UMass (yuck). Boise might have the schedule to pass us, with UCF, UTEP, Oklahoma State, and BYU. There are probably others with good enough out of conference schedules, but I don't know if any of them are good enough to run the table. Louisiana is definitely the one that worries me the most should we finish 12-1.

At Liberty could easily be an L.

Definitely. But I also think Louisiana is good enough to win at Texas. If they beat, say, a 9-3/ranked 20th-ish Texas and 1-loss Liberty, their resume is going to look really strong.

RE: 2021 Schedule
Here is Liberty's schedule, for reference:

09/04 - Campbell
09/11 - at Troy
09/18 - Old Dominion
09/25 - at Syracuse
10/02 - at UAB
10/09 - Middle Tennessee
10/16 - at ULM
10/23 - at North Texas
10/30 - UMass
11/06 - at Ole Miss
11/20 - Louisiana
11/27 - Army

Those last 3 weeks will be rough, but I won't be surprised if they are 9-0 going to Ole Miss. They aren't eligible for the G5 NY6 spot, but they will be a big resume boost to Louisiana if the Cajuns pull that one out.

Yea thanks for doing the research - I was too lazy to look at the rest of the G5's schedules. Obviously this would assume we go undefeated in the AAC and our only loss is to IU or ND, I don't think there's any way you take another team against a 12-1 UC based on SOS.

Louisiana would be a good dark horse for AAC team 12. Wish they were here and not Tulane.
