RE: Reason as usual hits it out of the park on social media censorship
So, so true. Cons are always up the creek oarless when it comes to Social Media. Why is that? If there's billions to be made and those Liberal Androids prove it why haven't conservatives jumped on the band wagon and come up with their own products/apps. Instead of crying foul and bawling over unfair practices someone with the knowledge and the money should initiate their own. It's mindboggling we're subject to the whims of the Commie lovers.
Quote:Consider this; years ago a court ruled that it was unlawful for the President to block people on both his personal and his POTUS accounts. The reasoning being was his tweets are deemed as part of the public record of the Presidency. In its ruling, the court declared that when Trump blocked anyone on the account is became a case of ‘’Unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination’’. This leads to the question — if he was prevented from denying access to his messaging how is it acceptable for the provider to deny his messaging outright? Did they not discriminate against his viewpoint with this action?
Quote:There are a number of people on the web who are mocking Parler for being dependent on Amazon and making it possible for the company to just pull the virtual plug like this. But there is another company that operates on the AWS framework in a similar fashion – Twitter. This becomes significant moving forward.
The entire justification Amazon gives for taking down Parler is it says the company had no terms of service restrictions, leading to the violent plots of the insurrectionists developing on Parler. This is not only inaccurate — as Parler had many TOS guidelines — but it is a rash decision, for this reason: As I covered yesterday, those plotting the attack on the Capitol were hardly limited to Parler. Twitter and FaceBook also harbored those individuals who were making plans, using their systems to do so in the same way.
Now, if the attacks justify the purge of Parler, then Twitter and FaceBook are just as culpable, are they not, using this same standard? And if Twitter is thus guilty does it not then mean they too need to be taken down from the AWS system? You get the sense that this realization has dawned on the upper management of these companies. Take a look at this interview with Sheryl Sandberg, from FaceBook.
RE: Reason as usual hits it out of the park on social media censorship
Gab has made huge strides by running their own servers because they know they will be kicked off others and they couldn't sit by and let that happen.
Alex Jones has been banned from everywhere but is no harder to find now than ever. He lists a dozen or more platforms he DOES have accounts on. I haven't heard of a large number of them, but now he is in essence advertising for the new alternatives.
Gab and Parler have spiked in popularity around the world in pockets as well. Anytime something crazy happens with deplatforming people, they sees a huge spike that the deplatformed supporters bring. How funny to see hundreds of thousands of Saudis sign up for Parler.
RE: Reason as usual hits it out of the park on social media censorship
Somehow, I suspect Amazon is responsible, all the internal data from Parler has been hacked and will be released into a searchable database ala wikileaks.
This happened hours before Amazon pulled the plug on them. Hmmm. So any discussion of DC events will now be publicly available and searchable. How convenient for those determined to track down anyone who was anywhere that day and ruin their lives, have them fired, all accounts closed etc.

Change is happening. Big tech itself is creating its own competition and leading to the decentralized net that was envisioned.
We may have a war between two conspiracy theorists right now.
Alex Jones explode on the guy behind QANonwho was arrested recently for storming the capitol. The guy in the horns and weird outfit was the one who sent those conspiracy theories that the election was stolen from Trump. It is leading to be Trump impeached again, removed from office before the 20th and ban from holding another federal office. If Trump have stayed away from these conspiracy theories from this whack job? He may have won a second term.
