18 matches starting January 22nd-- 12 CUSA matches (all within West division with matches on Sunday & Monday on same court), plus home & home vs. UH to open the season, followed by a two at SMU and then conference play. We end the regular season (and warm up for the conference tourney) with matches against top ranked Baylor (home) and Texas (road)....

Is there going to be a national tournament? If so, the Baylor and Texas games could go a long way towards an at-large bid if we lose a slugfest to WKU. It's always more convincing to point to late-season wins than early-season wins.

Yes, the NCAA tourney will be held in April, and will include teams playing in both the Fall and the Spring.

It makes no sense fans cant attend games.
The capacity at Tudor is about 5100 and the average attendance last year for volleyball was only about 890. Please Rice be realistic or at least show prove of vaccination and allow entry. The same is true for WBB.

1. To be truly effective, there needs to be two inoculations, 3-4 weeks apart. As it is unlikely that more than a handful of individuals would have gotten both doses by even the beginning of February, with most not receiving both for at least a couple of months thereafter, proof of vaccination would be almost non-existent.

2. The CDC expects the peak of deaths to take place during the week ending February 6, with between 16,200 and 29,600 deaths. Those figures are horrifying - almost as horrifying as people whose impatience will keep killing people.

Yes but only 800 attendance in a 5000 arena ? Everyone must wear a mask, take your temp before entering, and at least 10' apart? What are the odds? Makes no sense.

RE: Volleyball Schedule Just Posted
That brings up an interesting point. With so many sports going on this spring (hopefully), there really will be a premium on facility and practice space for the various Owl athletic teams. It looks like the general schedule this winter will be either men's or women's basketball home games on Friday and Saturday afternoon (through the end of February), which means volleyball has to play home matches on Sunday and Monday afternoons.

That's just for the home events. But what about squeezing in practice times between basketball and volleyball?

Baseball also will start up shortly but they don't have to share their facility.

Another conflict will be between soccer and track and field. Normally, soccer is a fall sport so the track team doesn't really clash with soccer too badly (just some practices for track I'm guessing).

I guess most schools are having the same issues, but Rice's overall facility situation isn't the greatest I suppose.
