If those ACC teams win their early season OOC games then their ACC match-ups will take on more importance. If they lose the non-conference games, the rest of the season won't matter nearly as much.
Miami will be a big underdog to Alabama. Clemson and Georgia is nearly even, slight edge to the Tigers. Losses in either won't really kill the ACC, as long as they aren't blowout losses (looking at "U").
The "reputation" games are Louisville/Ole Miss, FSU/Notre Dame, Pitt at Tennessee and NC State at Miss. State. The storyline will be most established by the time VT visits WVU (week 3) and Missouri comes to BC (week 4). Gotta win a bunch of those week 1 & 2 games so the rest of the season matters...

I don't see it that way. Other than Notre Dame, all the games they highlighted OOC were with other ESPN properties such as the SEC, and BYU. This is just the Mouse maximizing all of its inventory.
