I'm thinking NE, Indianapolis, Minnesota, or Chicago...MAYBE Pittsburgh

If he goes to a winning organization like New England or Pittsburgh, he can definitely have a nice career. I don't think he's good enough to drag a mediocre team to the playoffs a la Aaron Rodgers most years, but he's definitely got a future as an NFL starter.

Mac Jones looks like the kind of QB that Pittsburgh would trade up to get.

Personally, I was rooting for penalties, turnovers, missed tackles, dropped passes, and anything else embarrassing.

But in the end, I ALWAYS root against O$U.

Saban's career record at Alabama is insane:

He’s going to be the 4th or 5th QB drafted and I would t be surprised if he ends up better than the guys in front of him. He’s more accurate and has better touch than Lawrence. Runs through reads quicker than anyone I’ve seen this year. Won’t look as good in shorts at the combine.

Saban’s SEC Trophy Case is getting crowded:

7 National Titles (2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2020)

9 SEC Titles (2001, 2003, 2009, 2012, 2014–2016, 2018, 2020)

11 SEC Western Division Titles (2001–2003, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014-2016,2018, 2020)

5 SEC Coach of the Year (2003, 2008, 2009, 2016, 2020)

I turned on the tv to watch the game, and found myself wondering why I’d do such a thing. At the time, I considered it an equivalent, sucky form of entertainment, so for the first time ever, I watched “The Bachelor,” and found myself wondering why I’d do such a thing. Clicked over to ESPN to see the Bucks satisfactorily being clobbered, which should make for restful sleep.

Instead of sheep, tonight I’ll count Alabama touchdowns.

Alabama beat Notre Dame & Ohio State by a combined score of 83-38 and they called the dogs off in both games. Couldn’t happen to two nicer programs.

Good luck with that. He’ll never have that equivalent level of protection or weapons in the NFL. He has NFL talent, but he was propped up by his OL, Smith/Waddle, and Sark. Put him on BYU and he wouldn’t even be considered 1st rd talent. He’d have a few less DUIs though.

RE: Roll Tide or Luckeyes?
I had no personal interest in the game; not an OSU or 'Bama fan. I tuned over to check the score and OSU was down one touchdown and I didn't learn the final score until early this morning.

I do believe it's fair to ask the question again: was OSU deserving of that playoff spot based upon their short undefeated season against mostly mediocre B10 opponents?

Alabama proved once again they are the best team, and the best program in America right now. But imagine if UC had made the four team playoff and lost by the exact same score to the Tide? The narrative would have been entirely different and so predictable: how an undefeated G5 had no business in the "P5 playoff" and how this validates the decision not to ever consider a non-P5 team again.

My hope is that the playoff expands sooner rather than later. A four team invitational in no way represents the national passion for college football, whose fans faithfully follow 60-80 of the best programs (UC included) in hopes of more postseason glory than just an obscure bowl game.

I have gone over that question in my head a couple times. I don't know if they were deserving based on a 6 game sample, but they went out and dominated what I thought was the 2nd best team in the country (Clemson).

Maybe Clemson would have matched up better against Bama and given us a closer game, but was anyone going to be able to keep up with this Bama team? Ohio State likely should not have been in the playoffs based on amount of games played, but do I think OSU is one of the top 4 teams in the country? Yes.

The Big 10 is down/bad and I think had the season played out normally they would have made the CFB playoff as the undefeated Big 10 champ. I think the only reason it is a topic of discussion is that we had a .0001% chance of breaking through, and people want to stick it to Ohio State. The Buckeyes are likely better than any of the other potential playoff candidates.

That said if Notre Dame and OSU are allowed to go get their asses kicked in the playoffs...we should be able to as well.

I was a believer that 6 games shouldn't be rewarded. But if the committee's responsibility is to pick the best 4 teams and there's no game requirements then they deserved it. It's just impossible to judge this year with all the COVID disruptions. OSU looked bad vs Northwestern but after seeing them blast Clemson it looked like their struggle was due to all the players missing. We barely beat Tulsa; does anyone really thing we don't beat them badly had our program not been shut down for two weeks.

My point is it's just so hard this year to judge teams by an individual result; maybe OSU gives Bama more of a game last night without their missing players. But I am glad a team that played a full schedule won the title and I think they clearly had the team this season.

RE: Roll Tide or Luckeyes?
The bigger issue is that it he divide between the top SEC team and everyone else is way too big for the sport to function. Usually that team is Bama every once in a while Georgia or LSU might fit the bill but the number of teams that can compete for championship is so small. Clemson and Ohio State dominate their leagues and sometimes good enough to win it all. Oklahoma might be play for the championship but hasn’t been super elite for a while.

Would expanding the playoff fix this? Would we better with an inclusive BCS system where every conference champion gets a major payday new years bowl.

The sport basically needs to find a way to “nerf” the best programs and create geographic balance while providing opportunities for the non-power conference programs that want to compete.

I don’t think that’s the case. Heck, you could have said the same about Joe Burrow. He transfers to UC with Denbrock rather than LSU, you tell me where he gets drafted.

He’ll do just fine. He’ll go late enough in the 1st round that he will probably have a decent team around him and may not get pressed into service right away.

I don't know about you, but I'm officially sick and tired of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

I'd like to see some new blood in the CFP but it'll never happen. The old guard with it's ESPN cronies has it's grips on CFB and they're going to keep shoving it down our throats... AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Yawn.

Is Kerry Coombs available yet?

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohi...-of-coombs

It took quite a few comments, but MF's name eventually comes up. Consensus folks like having Coombs around for recruiting, but they need a younger DC. So much for the 4/4.

Well, there are a lot of reasons those teams are good.

Watching that game last night you watched 7 consensus 1st round picks on the field...8 if some NFL team wises up and grabs Najee Harris in the end of round 1.

Would mean 25% of this year’s 1st round draft picks played last night. Let that sink in.

Bolded--I love your closing line! And I guess that's my biggest beef with the current system. It's business as usual when ND or OSU get punked in the CFP, but if UC had the same outcome the Bearcats, the American Conference, and the entire G5 would be denigrated immediately by media and P5 fans as being unworthy of participating. Expand the playoff. It might not change the national championship winner but the journey would engage lots more fans and would rival March Madness for truly being a playoff where all contenders, or pretenders, have a shot at glory.
