4 seconds left and you send DeVonta Smith and Waddle on fly routes.
Yeah, a head scratcher.
Two possible good outcomes: a TD or a pass interfeence that gives you an untimed down.
Three neutral outcomes: an incompletion, you get tackled short of the goal line, or an interception you tackle short of the goalline with numbers downfield after time expires.
One negative outcome: An interception return for a TD. Where you still have a two score lead and get the ball first in the second half.

Risk v. Reward. Bama already spotted em one on the fumble. And two on the targeting.
I get your thinking though

Yeah, but if Ohio State makes some massive adjustments in the second half and go on to win by less than a TD.....
When you are playing for a championship you can't leave possible points on the board.

It was a what the hell? moment for my wife and me. We both felt you take the 5 yards and run one play with 4 seconds to go. Throw deep and see what happens. If you get lucky you get points and you still have the ball to start the second half. Truly though thus far Alabama is the only one who has stopped Alabama. We'll see what the half time adjustments are.

Ohio St can't give up 7 here or it's over. You aren't stopping Alabama enough to come back from 25 down.

Checking in early on this one!
Congratulations to Alabama! Just a phenomenal offense, one of the best I've ever seen. What a season for the Crimson Tide!
Congratulations to Ohio State! Love my Buckeyes and I know the future is bright.
Thank you to all the players this year that sacrificed so much just to play a game, we fans appreciate all of you.
Thanks to all of you and your passion for college football! It's people like us that make this sport the best in the world, I love this game!

This Alabama team has been truly like watching an Anaconda at work. They methodically worked through the middle of 2nd quarter until they had Ohio State in their grip and they have been slowly strangling the life out of them the rest of the way. They did this to everyone but Mississippi.

Yeah. I was curious and found this.
Alabama's 3 closest games to date,
52-46 over Florida SEC Championship game,
63-48 over Ole Miss,
41-27 Georgia.
The ohio state.
Thanks committee.
