This would have made a ton of sense, but you would think the MAC would have announced it already if it was going to happen.
10 teams off tonight and the league couldn't make up a single game. It's ok to go off script. I get Buffalo and Toledo were only scheduled to play once, but guess what they are both off tonight so have them play. It doesn't seem that hard to me, but maybe I am missing something.

Watching the BG and Kent game on CBSSN. Their halftime people have no clue about MAC basketball. One said, "looking at the Top teams in Toledo and Akron, they have a real shot to be a tough out as a 14 or 15 seed in the NCAA tourney."
I'm sure a #2 seed would love playing a top 50 or 75 NET team in the first round, NOT.
I'm not sure UB, Ohio or Kent would be a 15. Akron and Toledo could easily be 11 or 12's if they finish strong.

I don't see any MAC team getting as high as an 11th this year. I'd say Toledo would be a 12th seed and Akron a 13th. Kent would be a 13/14 seed. After those teams the MAC would probably being looking at a 14/15 seed.

It really depends on how a team finishes and how many games they've played this year. The MAC in general is not a 15 seed type of league. And UB has been a 9 recently, so the fact still remains CBSSN don't know what they're talking about.

RE: MAC basketball 2021 ...
Jason Arkley (former Ohio beat writer for the Athens Messanger) started an Ohio sports blog shortly after the COVID layoffs began around the sports industry. He does a great job, and I highly recommend his site for Ohio sports news.
Anyway, he covered the latest Ohio coaches show in his latest entry. Coach Boals talked about dealing with the pause Ohio is currently on. However, This show happened to have MAC commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher as a guest. He touched on rescheduling games across the MAC. The questions were generally Ohio-centric, but here are some snippets from the article...
Quote: How will the MAC approach trying to fit in so many postponed games before the MAC Tournament begins on March 11?
“I wish my crystal ball spelled that out,” Steinbrecher joked. “We’re going to get a lot of games in, I’m confident of that.”
Quote:Steinbrecher said the focus of rescheduling efforts will directed toward making sure every team in the MAC plays every other team at least once. For OU, that means the makeup with Eastern Michigan would take priority.
After that, Steinbrecher said the conference would do the best it can.
“We’ll be trying to make it as fair as can be, but that doesn’t mean it will always be equal,” Steinbrecher said. “I’ve been gratified by how well our member institutions …have worked together and collaborated in order to get things done.”

With Toledo's loss, Akron and Toledo are now tied in the loss column. It should be interesting to see how things play out. Akron would currently own the tie-breaker as Akron has a better record against the top teams in the MAC, but Toledo as of now Toledo is 1/2 game up. We could see a scenario that 1 team wins the conference over another because 1 team played 1 more game than the other.

Kent State, Ohio and Buffalo all just one back in the loss column now. Buffalo and Ohio at 7-4 have a little more work to do, but the Top 5 are all within one loss of each other and right now BG is the most dangerous six seed I've ever seen.

They don't shoot it that well, and just lost 6 in a row before going rogue and hitting against Toledo. I like Miami a lot in the middle.
Going to be a typical dog fight in Cleveland.

Kent's problem is they're a combined 0-4 against Toledo and Akron so it will to challenging for them to win tie-breakers. They would need to win the conference outright. This is certainly feasible, but with no games left against Akron/Toledo they're at the mercy of relying on other teams to beat Akron/Toledo.
Buffalo still has two games left against Akron and 1 vs Toledo so they certainly can play a big part in how things play out.

RE: MAC basketball 2021 ...
Kind of off topic, but since we’ve discussed seeding here before... I saw an interesting tweet that the West Coast conference had Ken Pomeroy come up with an adjusted winning percentage to seed their tournament. As of right now, 2-4 St. Mary’s would be the 4 see.

Think Pomeroy uses half the ratings based on the prior season to start and with just 6 games is still probably influencing the ranking. That said, its bull sh-t for them to be a 4 seed.

I doubt he's looking at last years data for these rankings. He's probably taking into account OOC play though.

Do we think this is it for makeups? If so, Buffalo will get out of three road games... at Akron, at CMU, at EMU
That's a lot of saved miles!!!

I don't want to get out of @CMU and @EMU. Those should be easy wins. At this moment, UB has missed out on four games against the worst three teams in the conference.

RE: MAC basketball 2021 ...
I'm not sure when they'd squeeze more makeup games in? I wouldn't think the teams in the tourney would want to risk playing after 3/5. These reschedules at least put the top 3 teams on pace to play the same number of games... Here's the remaining "postponed" games:
Akron (1) - Buffalo
Ball St. (2) - @ CMU, @ EMU
Bowling Green (1) - NIU
Buffalo (3) - @ Akron, @ CMU, @ EMU
Central Michigan (4) - BSU, UB, @ NIU, @ Ohio
Eastern Michigan (6) - BSU, UB, Kent, @ Miami, @ NIU, WMU
Kent St. (1) - @ EMU
Miami (2) - EMU, Ohio
Northern Illinois (6) - BG, CMU, EMU, Ohio, Toledo, @ WMU
Ohio (4) - CMU, @ Miami, @ NIU, @ WMU
Toledo (1) - @ NIU
Western Michigan (3) - @ EMU, NIU, Ohio

RE: MAC basketball 2021 ...
It looks like the MAC intentionally left Toledo out that way Akron, Ohio, and Kent could all potentially match their 19 game total. Buffalo looks capped at 18 games.
