Did You Know?
The CHImPS beat Louisiana Tech, 35-14 in the Pioneer Bowl, 1974 (with Terry Bradshaw in the TV booth, believing LTU could come back and win with under nine minutes left). A week later, the Maroon &Gold appeared in the Camellia Bowl, trashing Delaware (and wide receiver Billy Cubit), 54-14 and winning the proverbial DII National Championship as recognized by the NCAA. But wait, the UPI designated Louisiana Tech national Champs! WTF? Did they miss the Pioneer and Camellia Bowls as well as the award ceremonies? Phucked up people everywhere!

Don’t you know? This is America! Claiming to be anything automatically makes it so!

Also, congrats on the 70s.

Holyshyt! Who would have thought, a HURONator enlightening a CHImP? Thanks for the tip.

No playoffs until the next season.
UPI Poll was at the end of the regular season, so the
Pioneer Bowl was not taken into account.
Northern Michigan won the Championship in 1975.
Best teams like Nevada, EMU, CMU, and Boise St.

RE: Did You Know?
But, we beat Boise State, 20-6 in a quarterfinal game in Mt. Pleasant (which I attended).

RE: Did You Know?
There was no Div. I-AA (FCS) in those days, so Division II was essentially FCS.

In 1974, CMU defeated Boise State (now FBS), Louisiana Tech (now FBS) and Delaware (FCS) to win the Div. II National Championship.

FIRE UP CHIPS! :)
