Yamar Diene (6-9) getting hurt before the end of his senior likely cost us a run in the conference and possibly NCAA's...

And to be fair to Pera, Ondigo and Poteat (and Fiedler) were supposed to be the big interior presences this year. Can't really predict that Ondigo is going to miss games for personal reasons and that Poteat is going to get hurt in preseason.

I have missed the first 10 minutes but from what I can gather...it appears we are struggling to defend again.

30-28 Rice. Seems like the defense has been pretty decent since I've started watching. Offense looks a bit stagnant though.

I like Havsa but not when he's been doing whatever he's doing this half. Way too much dribbling, way too much iso, way too many forced shots.

And the FT shooting by the team is embarrassing.

Terrible FT shooting. We should’ve had a lead at the half with the amount of times we got to the line.

34-34 at the half. 11 pts and 7 reb for Fiedler, who's been good again. Way too much Havsa (really the first half he's been bad).

Think Pera made a mistake autobenching Olivari when he picked up his second foul. Olivari only averages 2.0 fouls per 40, so Pera essentially benched one of our two best offensive weapons for an extended period even though it's unlikely Olivari will foul out.

47-39 Rice. Threes from Abercrombie and then Evee. We're an oddly good defensive team in the second game of a back-to-back.

47-39 Rice with 2 quick 3s. This team is pretty fun to watch. Still make some mistakes but I’m impressed with what Pera put together after another exodus. Wish I could see them in person...

Fiedler has really grown as a player since last season. It will be nice to give him some help in the post once the other guys get back.

49-44 Rice. Really feels like the offense is much slower with Havsa running the point instead of Evee. Feels like a UTEP run is coming.

For how tight they’ve called this game they’re letting them body up quite a bit down low.

Olivari and Evee are frightening when they're both making shots. And loud. And very cocky lol

60-51 Rice after a couple 3s from Evee and one from Olivari.

Fiedler got clobbered on that supposed block. No call.

64-59 Rice. UTEP getting hot. Rice needs to go back to Evee, Olivari, Abercrombie, Fiedler, and Mullins for the rest of the game.

Agree about Havsa in this game. Guess Vandy will be calling Fiedler since Millora-Brown hasn’t worked out...just kidding...sort of. This team is cocky...in a good way.

Can't believe Olivari has taken only 3 shots in 25 minutes/

66-61 with 2:30 to go.

Three wide open looks from UTEP and they miss all three. Big bullet dodged there. Rice still leads 66-61 with 1:57 left. Feels like we're running prevent offense and I really don't think that's the way to close out this game. Would rather see us keep the foot on the gas.
