Don't think that's the issue. Rice is top 15 in assists per game.

Our offensive system is predicated on cuts and slips, so naturally we're going to have plenty of assists. But how many of those passes are entry passes to Mulkey? Or unguarded cuts? When our offense breaks down and we have to make plays outside the structure of our sets, way too many times our players just aren't seeing the easy or right pass.

UTEP hits a 3 at the buzzer and takes a 1 point lead at the half.

23-22 UTEP at the half. Probably one of the worst halves of the year. Missing too many good looks and have had a fair few breakdowns on defense (most just haven't been punished).

Scratch that. The shot isn't going to count. It was a shot clock violation. Rice up 2 at the half.

It was the worst half of the year IMO. The shooting has been atrocious more for being to hard than wildly missing. Pace of play has been an issue for both teams.

Six international players on UTEP team. Countries are Australia, Russia, Finland, Argentina, and 2 from Latvia.

Rice survives the bad shooting (and only 8 players on a back to back) and wins 55-43.

55-43 final. 2-0 on the weekend against a decent team without playing close to our A game. Not great, but wins are wins.

Also another player from El Paso has played on international teams for Mexico.

RE: WBB vs UTEP
From what I understand, Destiny Jackson suffered a concussion in Friday's game so she was out due to concussion protocol. I'm not sure why India Bellamy didn't dress up. Hopefully they'll both be back soon. When you only have 10 players to begin with, any missing folks make a difference.

I'd say 8 players (and 2 of the 8 are probably our last 2 in the top 10 rotation) playing 24 hours after a game is an issue. To still win in those circumstances deserves a 'nice job Owls'.

Was it announced why the other players were not available. Jackson, in particular, is usually the first or second off the bench and plays the most minutes off the bench. I hope it's not COVID. The entire bench played yesterday.

Do you have me on ignore? I just told you why Jackson didn't play. Not sure about Bellamy.

No, I just got home and, after reviewing the box score, I was responding to an earlier post (before I got to yours).

UTEP did have 12 players play in the game, but the bottom 3 totaled 6+ minutes and 0 points.

So basically 9 vs. our 8, and all had played a game the night before.

Still, I agree, nice job. I tend to say that about any win, any sport, though.

Next week at ODU we don't even get 24 hours between games. The women play at 5:30pm on Friday and 1:00pm on Saturday. Is that even legal?

Looks like that for the rest of the season. Away games played in less than 24 hours. Home game starts are all at least 24 hours. Wonder how much it is "TV" vs other teams trying to tire us out (mainly Mulkey).

Or airline schedules for the trip home? (From Norfolk, Hattiesburg & Huntington; it doesn't explain the Denton games' timing.)

North Texas is home and away with a day off in between.

Here’s the Deets according to espn.
I might try to make the Denton game if I can score a ticket. Looks like UNT is allowing 1500 fans in per game.
