Yeah baby!!!!!!!!

What I speculated yesterday happened. 02-13-banana

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...acketology

16 Seed is not the target, but for this year I'd take a 25 seed (this year) as a building block for the future.

&

https://collegeinsider.com/mens-mid-major-top-25

In the 40's not great, but better than it has been for awhile.

All these are good signs.

PG - weren't you the one that corrected me on my optimism and said it would take 3 years for Mark? 04-cheers

ha, yep I thought we would see improvement, but thought it would take until the 3rd season to be 1 or 2 in the caa. I am pleasantly surprised.

NET still at 129 and Massey in the 160s. I was just hoping for top 200 this year, so yeah, it's pretty crazy that if we win out and at least make it to the CAAT championship we could propel ourselves into the top 100 in year 1, at least in RPI. We finished last year at ~306. Keep winning and who knows how high we can push it.

At this point By has to be unanimous CAA COY. Not enough name recognition to be in talks to be talked about nationally unless we make a big run in the dance, but who cares. I'll take CAA COY.

Yeah - I don't see us making a name for our self even if we make the dance. I do think getting to the dance would help attendance, recruiting, and provide an excellent experience for the players to grow from for future years. Also - this could be a nice building block/experience for Mark as well. He's not been to the NIT or NCAA before. Getting to the NCAA would be a huge plus for the program - not so much for this year, but for future year success.

Washington Post has us as a 16 seed as well.

South Region

(1) BIG 12/Baylor vs. (16) COLONIAL/James Madison-MID-EASTERN ATHLETIC/North Carolina A&T

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/20...ssissippi/

Now we've not had a lot of success versus the MEAC this year. 03-lmfao

A 15 seed would be quite an accomplishment this season. Can't see us catching up to the projected 14 seeds though. But ya never know what might happen in conference tournaments. There's always upsets and with Covid testing, some favorites might not even get to play. All we can do is keep winning.

OK - I've been meaning to do this.....

If you just include JMU's last 9 games since the Towson game on1-16 our Sagarin ratings for those games would put us at 76.38 or #109, right between Tulsa and Washington State.

Our full season Sagarin is #183 including some earlier season ugly losses.

Yes and that still matters - playing well going into the tourney. I doubt these bracketologists scrutinize down to that level at this point and they probably just see us for our rating and in our conference and don’t consider how well we’ve been playing. If JMU continues to win I think we’re probably a 15 or 14 but who knows if you get some upsets in March maybe we even get a slightly better seed.

Northeastern was a 13 seed in 2019 at 23-10
Hofstra was supposedly around a 13/14 seed last year at 26-8, 14-4 CAA with a NET 118 score.

Obviously each year is different and SoS also matters. If NE knocks off UNC and then we win the tourney it could help.

This site has us as a current projected 14 seed, with 20.9% odds of winning the autobid

Women down to #22 in Mid Major poll.

Could the men be ranked higher in the men's poll by season's end? Who saw that as a possibility for this year?

How are we ranked ahead of Towson in the women’s poll? They have a two game lead on us.

I don’t track this one, but guessing it depends on where you started the year ranked and then slot voting pushes you up and down each week.

A lot of public polls seem to work that way and are far from perfect as a result. The FCS top 25 takes a while to move up if you started the year unranked.

The other factor (assuming poll voters aren’t lazy as most are) is the perceived strength of the teams you have won/lost against. Maybe our schedule to date has been tougher than Towson’s

With no quality wins and losses to Morgan State and Norfolk St - I think 16 seed is probable, 15 possible, and 14 same odds as Mega lottery.

Once again, just the experience and breaking glass ceilings will provide tons of benefit. When Brady got to the Dance - it felt like we topped out. If By makes the dance this year, it will feel as if he built a foundation for the future.

things may change if we win out and sweep the conference tourney in terms of seeding. It would also help if northeastern shows out vs unc tonight

It really depends on what the outcomes are of the some of the smaller conference tourneys are (if they are played) and the number of upsets. If there are a few upsets it makes sliding up into the 15 much easier. If we had won the two MEAC games we would solidly be a 15 with a chance of being a 14.

Winning out going into the CAAT at this point means winning our game on February 28th versus Drexel.

Thanks for the clarification - I would hope we can find a few games to play OOC in the meantime. These long dead periods cant be good for teams.

I think Kenpom and Sagarin are much better gauges for Seedings, than RPI.

If you look at the Sagarins you'll see our ratings do not beat many other top teams in other conferences. If teams like Winthrop and/or Wright St got upset, that could certainly help us. Beating a dead horse, but Morgan St and Norfolk St...... At the time, who knew those losses might matter?

Sure, but if NE beats UNC and then we beat them in CAAT, wouldn’t that in theory bump up rating scores? Or they only look at regular season and not tourney games?
